  • what is the colour of the light? i am finding a USB with white light ….

I'm guessing it glows red hot once you start transferring large amounts of data.

      • why HOT?

        • +3

Small = less heat dissipation. So it's likely slow or hot or both.

          Edit: Sadly yup…

          @syousef:

Not as much heating issues compared to the Sandisk Ultra Fit, from past ozbargain posts people here report not much heat.

        • @lyl:

"Hot enough to fry an egg" sounds pretty hot to me. I wonder if it's just defective units.

        • @syousef:

Probably just defective units. Your link only shows 1 star reviews (which comprise of only 5%, very low for USBs), so it's probably a bit biased.

When you search for the term 'heat' or 'hot' for 'all stars' and sort by 'most recent,' you'll see that most people do not have a problem with it

@syousef: I've got two of these, they barely get warm at all, even transferring files on the PC…conversely, my Sandisk Fit is fine in the car for playback, but when loading it up on the PC it gets stinking hot.

          @StewBalls:

          Thanks StewBalls, Lyl.

@syousef: Also have two of these 128s. No heat issues at all with big transfers

        • @syousef: Working as designed? Your GPU could replace your slow cooker, and cook your casseroles but it is operating at temperatures that it was designed to be able to run at.

        • @zealmax:

All Samsung products should now come with a fire blanket :P

Watch me get down voted into oblivion :p

    • Seems the code is no longer valid.
      Great find though…

Thanks, have amended post. My bad assuming that mymemory germany offers free shipping from past deals.

I'll use this to add cheap storage to my new MacBook Pro 2016…….oh wait.

  • nice little USB to plug into the front/back of a headunit. currently using a 32GB one to hold all my music

I have this flash drive. Speedtest result:

Not bad. Assuming consistent speed that's just over an hour to fill it and about 18 mins to read it.

Worth the extra £0.56 for priority shipping?

    • Of course it is hahaha
If you're unlucky, international shipping can take over a month (idk what MyMemory are like)
And for 56c it's pretty damn cheap

      • +1

more like AUD 90c, but I'll bite :)

    Is this ganna explosive?

  • I bought one of these (from their ongoing deal?) last time was posted, very slow around Kb/s or sometimes down to B/s, iffy, not reliable, heating up crazy, nowhere close to the ultra fit, that one is the king and cheaper.
    Don't waste your money.
PS; Just noticed that the Amazon product feedback sums it up

Isn't it strange, I bought one same deal and my experience is the exact opposite…runs cooler (this warm at worst using for 15 minute file transfer as an example whereas San noticeably hot) than the SanDisk (yes I have both in the 128 size) and seems a bit faster, San slows as it heats up IMHO - unmeasured by any scientific method, just a feeling.

Runs at speed you would expect from USB 3 NB not blazing fast BUT way way better than USB2.

Indispensable IMHO (either this or San) for the huge convenience factor, I would prefer this over the San

Note both need to be attached with a string lanyard - eg those that you use for mobile phone danglies - if you want to attach to, say, a keyring as the anchor points are tiny

      • I gotta say it gets a little bit less hot than the sandisk, performance does very. Transferring to USB I have noticed is very hit and miss, I have USB3 hard drives, SSD, and Flash drives. When I am transferring sometimes its at 100mbps sometimes 20mbps less or more. Sometimes even as low as 30mbps. I have never reached over 150mbps or near the 300mbps claimed by USB3..

Just know that its all faster than USB2. And its small and holds a lot. So I can leave it in my surface when I put it in its case.

  • I am getting pound 24.99 inspite of adding the code

  • Anyone had theirs shipped yet?

    • Still waiting for mine. Purchase on November 9

      • Mine arrived today, also purchased on the 9th November. Ordered two units but only received one in the package, hopefully they split the shipments…

  • Paid for Priority Shipping; Still waiting…
