50% off All Prescription Sunglass Lenses at OPSM (Instore only) When Purchased In Complete Pair

380

Long time lurker, about time to give something back. Just a quick head up on this upcoming campaign from OPSM.

50% off all prescription sunglass lenses when purchase complete pair. Not as big as this Rayban deal from last year, except it will now includes all brands OPSM carry, ie Rayban, Oakley and many more.

Can use with health funds rebates.

Enjoy :)

*Sorry, a huge mistake, just took the words of my colleague without verify it. Initially mistaken as complete pair, not as big as I thought. So Mod delete this if you want

  • Thanks OP. Do you know the cost of lens Polarising?

    • +1

      RPP from 220.

  • Dang I went specsavers on the weekend for glasses and sunglasses :(

  • Very good deal, thanks OP

  • Their website doesn't mentione HCF….

Have used HCF with them in the past no problems

I read it to be 50% of sunglass "LENSES" Not the actual sunglasses themselves.

    • Yes me too.
Op please confirm and give an example of a deal.

    • Nah it will be frames + lenses. If you want just lenses, you'll pay full price.

Source: They trialled a below the line offer with me as a past customer 6 weeks ago. I declined and advised them they should allow lenses at 50% off too and they said they can't do that.

    • Actually you are right, I didn't realise, let me read the fine prints again in an hr. We all thought its frame and lenses

  • +1

Still more expensive than other glasses ships.

  • 1001 Optical also have a running deal, but Ray-Bans only

    Off-topic:Guys, how do I create a website link with a description….

    • +1

See "Formatting Help" when you go to post/reply, at the bottom of the box.
      Like this but with traditional brackets "( )" instead of the ones I used for the URL"{}" [ OzBargain]{https://www.ozbargain.com.au}

  • And when is the deal start?

  • sweet deal.
i got some prescription raybans last year from the 50% then.
Out of pocket $70 for a $500+ pair of sunnies (including health fund).

  • Hoping it includes lenses alone. I need some new ones for my Oakley Jawbones but don't want another set of frames.

    • I don't think this would include Oakley lenses. Oakley make the prescription lenses themselves, they have to be sent away, not some gimp in OPSM, if they did, then you aren't getting proper Oakley lenses. Yes Oakley and OPSM are owned by the same company but Oakley retain a lot of the manufacturing.

      • Oakley is included in the offers. But you are right, Oakley and ray ban are very protective of their brands where, there's limitation of how big of the prescription can go into their glasses, so they don't look ugly

        • Luxottica at it again I see.
Overpriced, lying scumbags is the only way I can describe my interaction with their sales staff.
Their optometrist that I last saw upon the other hand, well she should be working elsewhere, she's that good!

What do you do with all the old pairs of glasses? Some years ago I handed some to Specsavers (lady tossed them in a drawer) who said the frames are donated to poor overseas countries. Can anyone verify this? (Sorry for being off subject). I have quite a few newish pairs I no longer need (had cataract surgery), but as they are in near perfect condition and designer frames (Country Road, Ralph Loren etc) I would like them to go to someone who really does need them and not just tossed in a skip etc.

    • +1

It really depends on the shop, which you should check. OPSM does have its own charity programn OneSight that used to recycle these donated glasses, but the man power and time involve were too much. They just use some really basic frame and lenses now instead of recycle specs, mainly for efficiency reasons.

My store works with the local Lions Eyes where we collect for them, they recycle the glasses for us instead. But if you said they tossed them in a drawer, chances are they are using them as spare parts for their customers. (They should go to box!)

Can confirm that Specsavers donates old glasses. Was invited as an optometry student multiple times to Vanuatu for testing and glasses donation. Although my store arranged to collect the donations from surrounding stores. Can't speak for other stores, but it does happen.

    • +1

Some recent research ~3 years ago, forgot source) has found it is now cost effective to just produce readymade glasses vs trying to match donated specs to a person, so not every group accepts donated glasses anymore - your local lions club generally will

    • They will get chucked in the bin. Written off. They'd probably get recycled if you gave them to anyone but a Luxottica company.

  • +1

Be aware they charge you for the frame+lens+prescription lens, but only give you frame+prescription lens. make sure you demand the original lens so you can pass it on to other family members.

    • +2

thanks for the pro-tip, but what can they do just with the lenses without a frame ? Use them as a monocle ? A see-through pirates eye-patch ? Hold them over your iPhone when taking pictures for Instagram-like affects ? ;/

      • I am sure they can just buy the frames at perhaps a lower cost and benefit..

        • What do the shops do with the lenses they take out of the frame for you to buy the single frame only?

Sunnies are never sold without lenses…

      • You are reminding me of the Survivor series. I never understand why they don't use their glasses when they need to light a fire!

  • Can I clarify from the correction in the OP; is this for lenses alone or frames AND lenses together only?

    • +1

Lens only. My bad, I got too excited without verify it. But it looks like atm can be combined with the silent second pair offer 50% off.

      • That's perfect for me as I have frames but want to get an additional set of prescription lenses for them. Oakley Jawbones. Does that sound like it would work?

        • OOps I meant discount on lens only when purchase in complete pair. If you did buy the sunglasses through OPSM recently, go back to the same store and ask nice enough, they might willing to give you the 50% off too.

        • @l2p10:

Damn. Bought the frames ages ago.

  • So is this a lens only deal at 50%.

    That is a dud.

  • I've read through the whole thread and am still confused. It looks as though the post is still wrong. If you must buy the frames in order to get the lenses for half price then please state that in the main post. I have some Oakley frames that need lenses and the main post suggests I'm on to a winner but the post a few up from here suggests otherwise.

  • If you’re getting prescription Oakley’s, can you request to get them in a lens tint that is not offered with that model as a normal option. Eg the Conducter 6’s, but get them with prescription VR28 Black Iridium Polarized

    • Yes any colour u want, but polarise vs non polarise may affect option available. All store should hv a tint sample box that you can look at

      • Thanks, I have found VR28 Black Iridium Polarized to be the best lenses, but they are rarely speced as an option.
