My son wants an Xbox for Christmas. I missed out on the $229 500Gb version at Target over the weekend. Do you reckon that this EB Games $298 1TB deal is any good?

I'd recommend waiting till Microsoft has another sale on the Xbox One S. The One S is much better, smaller, more energy efficient and comes with newer games and a better controller.
The 10 rewards deal had the Gears or Battlefield version for 369 + ~20 cashback and came with Battlefield or Gears and COD.
Unless you see another 229 deal for the original Xbox, I'd recommend holding off till MS deliver another killer deal for the One S. 299 for the Original Xbox doesn't seem that great.
I'm sure there will be plenty of 299 Xbox One S deals between now and the end of year with a few good games included.
A 'killer deal' like the ones previously mentioned, won't happen until a new model is released.
Ms have run multiple deals near the end of the year on Xbox One's. I've bought one for my sister two years ago right at the end of the year and so did my friend.
I don't doubt at all that Ms will have the same deal or an even better better one come December.
The controller having a headphone jack and bluetooth is the biggest upgrade in the Xbox One S in my opinion - but you can also just go buy one of those for your existing Xbox One\PC.
You have to have a look at the console, my buddy just got his S today and he's raving about the quality difference. The S really is much better than people think, crazy quiet, doesn't get anywhere near as warm, no power brick, so much smaller and lighter.
And yea the controller is far far better than the Original controller.
Isn't there a new Xbox one out? I wouldn't buy the old console.
Get the 'S' It'll be worth the extra money I reckon
Wouldn't hurt asking for a price match. Although they don't advertise this I have found EB to do this several times. Just take in a copy of the ad and cross your fingers; good luck!
Not certain about ToysRUs, but when it came to new consoles etc we always compared the prices between them, BigW, Target and EB Games. Keep the ads for each and see if EB Games would do a price match when the date draws near.
Always a chance pre-xmas sales will have it less, I'm thinking $269. But it's all dependant on stock levels, and it's a discontinued product now.
The BigW deal looks better - especially with the 6% RAC offer
Budgets are tight this year and he wants it for Christmas so I may not go for the S
We've always had Sony and they have a new console coming out next year
Depends on the games they like.
This or the Target deal on the front page are both very good - better than the $229 deal if they like the games.
