I was in the market for a new 'dress' watch, and really liked the minimalist design of Daniel Wellington but wasn't a fan of the price for their Quartz movement.

A few forums suggested to check out Brathwait as they're similar in design to DW, but use better materials such as the more scratch resistant sapphire glass.

I looked for coupon codes (as you do) and came across the 15% off code which made the price more appealing.

Also note, if you just want a minimalist looking Quartz movement watch with Nato strap and don't care about the other particulars, there are a lot of really cheap ones that look pretty decent from Aliexpress.

I'd love any feedback from anyone who actually owns one of these watches.

    Which forums?

Is that realistically a $360 watch?

    where is it made?

    • Those watches are made in China according to their FAQs.

They do have a line made in Switzerland, but that one seems ridiculously overpriced.

As for whether it's realistically a $360 watch? Probably not. From what i've read online, all fashion watches have really high markups. This one just doesn't seem as high as the others.

My lowest threshold in 'luxury' watches is Tissot.

        eg.

        https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/product/tissot-men-s-42mm-p…

        made in switzerland

        its the real deal

Still a quartz watch… Why bother getting 'swiss' watch that uses a quartz movement is beyond me

        • @SBOB:

I'm with you but who has $2,000 etc. for a automatic swiss?

I'm realistic. You cant buy an automatic Swiss watch for under $500.

        • @tonyjzx:

Then buy a good quality automatic from a non-swiss manufacturer..

Having use to be into watches, there's plenty of impressive watches with high quality build and movement..

Plenty of options to fit whatever niche your looking for..

Eg, I had a thing for lume, so my lum-tec fit the bill, and pretty sure I won't be bumping into anyone wearing the same watch any time soon..

        • @tonyjzx: there are some fantastic non-Swiss brands that manufacture in Switzerland. Germany too. Steinhart, Stowaway, Bulova with their Accusswiss lines among others,

  • I have the classic slim version. Definitely do recommend if you are looking for a watch of a DW style but wanting better materials! It just lacks the name value of a DW.

Edit: https://www.brathwait.com/get-25 if you want to buy with a friend, not sure if it stacks with the discount though

Don't buy… it seems they raised the price for the discount. I bought mine for $185 USD in May and now its $249 USD, I got the classic slim in rose gold and leather. I love the watch and it hasnt scratch yet, but I don't condone this price raising practice…

  • I have this in gold and brown leather. Only minor thing I observed is that the movement is a bit audible but I barely notice it in everyday scenarios. That aside, I've found it to be a great watch to play around with and looks great (in my opinion).

Would recommend this for anybody sitting on the fence about buying it.

  • Wish the ones from aliexpress had better brand names, or put in none at all!
    "What's that you're wearing? A Sinobi….."

    • +1

Sinobi's not bad, haven't you seen Deerfun, Reginald, Kevin & Dom?

      • Yeah, I like their style, just not their name!
I'll check the others out, thanks!

  • Brathwait seems to have strayed from their original philosophy - produce quality and affordable time pieces by cutting out the middle man and not charging extortionate prices for relatively cheap upgrades. Example: mineral crystal to sapphire.

Their upgrade to automatic is joke.

Too many people are under the illusion that Swiss made means manufactured and constructed in Switzerland. It's only a percentage of Swiss input and construction put simply. Many Swiss watches constructed with parts from China. Even Omega does this.

      Best of Aliexpress.

    • "aliexpress cheap junk" - a fitting description for Daniel Wellington watches

  • Purchasing under the assumption that this watch will sing WE'LL GO RIDING ON THE HORRRRRRRRRSES YEAH YEAHHHHHH every hour.
