Has anyone actually used one of these? For $29 I'd expect it to burn out drilling through butter…

    • +1

Ahh well I bought one last year, it's still boxed up lol

    • I have one. It's fairly powerful, and the hammer function is great. But it lacks torque settings, so you'll still need another drill.

    • +2

Does the job for arou d the house jobs. Had one burn out, but took it back and they swapped it over on the spot - didn't even have the receipt. So for $29, it's not a bad deal if you only intended to use it now and then…

    • +3

I used one to put the roof and walls on a 5 car shed (1,000+ tek screws), didn't miss a beat. Got a bit warm but still goes

    • I purchased it last year for drilling holes into concrete for my dynabolts. It did it with ease. For home use I would recommend it. I've only used it twice (roughly 20 holes in concrete). I bought it at $49 and I was still very happy.

    • I've had one for years, it get's a workout and still goes hard.

  • +8

I've had one for a few years. Drilled probably 60 holes into brick walls without issue. For $29 it is perfect for around the house use.

  • +1

I had one of those, helped putting me few storage shelves in the brick wall, does the job great and definitely much more powerful than my Bosch PSB18 LI-2

    • Did you use this exact one or was it the one from last year's deal? That was actually 1010 watts which is 42% more powerful than this one.

      • +1

Sorry about the late reply, just checked mine is the 1010 watts

      • Thanks for pointing that out, I don't actually need one right now so I can afford to hold off

  • +1

I have one of these, it was really good, I live in a house with turn of the century red bricks, and it went through them easily. I paid a lot more for the drill bits on mine (none included). In fact, I think the drill bits cost more than the drill.

    • +2

Come to think of it, thorton82 is absolutely right, I remember I actually bought 3 more expensive drill bits as the one that came with it snapped in half after a while. Recommended to get a quality drill bit if your job takes a while.

  • Got one of these 2 years ago…still running. Drilled into a concrete/brick wall without issues. In saying that, I haven't used a more expensive one so can't compare. It does the job

  • +2

How convenient! My dad literally said, "We need to buy a new Hammer drill" this morning.

  • good deal

  • Hmm last year's deal was more powerful and came with 70 pieces…

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/200499

I have used it a few times and it does the job. But the drill bits that came with it are pretty poor I think.

    • Input energy does not necessarily mean more powerful.

      • Well it's 1010 watts which is 42% more. I guess it could still have the same power if the motor is now 42% more efficient?

  • +1

I've had one for 5 years and it's great. Highly recommended. Have done two renos with it. Yes the drill bits are crap. Replace them with brand name ones.

Pretty sure they come with a 2 or 3 year warranty.

    • +1

3 year warranty for DIY use.

    • +2

Exactly, many people on this site will spend more time complaining about the quality than they do drilling any holes, these are absolutely fine if you aren't drilling 100 holes a day into hardened concrete.

  • +3

Likwise - had an ozito hammer drill for 10 years. Bought it as a stopgap but cant kill it even left it outside for 3 days in the rain. Still goes.

  • +1

Not so good for drilling with hss and carbide bits, maybe lack of torque or speed. I have another drill which drills through steel like butter using the same bits.

Good enough for wood though, got it for wood work to have an extra couple drills for various bits.

Sits in the same basket as the rockwell drill press. But for $20 cant complain if you are a home diy newbie. Which this is marketed towards.

  • so whats the difference with this one apart from no drill bits and the price ?
    www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-710w-13mm-hammer-drill_p6290231

I have this one and has no problems drilling through bricks steel ect bit fast for wood screws ect 3 years warranty the directional switch is made like paper and would easily break super thin plastic which is weird should be covered by warranty though.

    steal at this price.

  • Got a few Ozito tools. They will last if you dont push them too hard (a lot of people do). Using quality drill bits is the key. Dull or poor quality bits will shorten any tools life. Not surprising you see and hear of people burning these things up when you see what they try to use it for, and how they use them. The cheap tools have limitations. Use it outside those limitations and its going to burn out.

  • +1
    • 3 year warranty! good buy!
  • This Drill is quite powerful and can be fast. IMHO, too powerful for precision work.

Does not have Torque Settings, almost broke my wrist once when it hit a dead spot.

Used it around the home and finally burnt out and went to drill heaven.

    Otherwise, Good Value for $20.

Would I buy it again? Probably not, lol :)

    • +1

Sorry, what did you mean by $20? did I miss something, is there an additional deal?

  • HAMMER drill TIME

  • +1

Just got one from my local. Staff had to get in out from the back as they are new in stock and said these aren't supposed to be for sale until next week. He was pretty stoked by the price too given that the drill by itself is selling at $49.

  • Anyone notice on the website listing, one of the pics is of someone drilling into the mortar rather than the brick? cringe

    Good price on this though!

    • Why?
I going to assume the mortar won't hold the screw as well?

      • +2

drilling into mortar is fine if that's where your hole needs to be.

        • Awesome.
I drilled into the mortar to feed a cable through and the screws will be going into the brick.

  • I have owned this drill for the past 5 years and can easily say it is probably one of the best you can buy under $60-70. Works very well but I only use is 20x a year

  • Do you know when this is on just at bunnings now, not showing up here

Wasn't updated in shop (Batemans Bay) got it :)

  • +1

Amazing all the numskulls here saying how they have owned it for years and how great it is and comments about quality…

…when it is a brand new model not even supposed to be for sale until next week LOL

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4144157/redir

    • Probably bunnings employees

    • +1

wasn't aware bunnings had an "out the back storage" generally if they have stock it's sitting in boxes above the shelf section.

    • +1

      numskulls = numbskulls.

      Just sayin'. :-)

    • +1

The bundle is likely new, the drill itself is not…

  • I inherited in 710W version a couple of years ago. Used it for a variety of jobs and never missed a beat.

  • Anyone seen this at any WA stores? Tried maddington and Armadale but nothing

    • See above.
They are probably out the back as they are not for sale til next week

      • What bunnings has an "out the back"?

        • Tried Belmont WA this morning.
          Also out the back.
I assume the back area is behind the trade area, but it depends on your store setup

    • Got mine from the Harrisdale store.

  • Picked one up. Good value for the price. Three year warranty. Takes about a minute or two to drill a decent hole in concrete.
    Happy with it.

    • gave it a shot again today. Think it may have hit some aggregate or reo.
      Darn thing was useless
