I was inquiring about doing some mystery shopping for a company called The Realise Group but this ABN requirement is stupid.
If the government is worried about tax evaders why don't they just require an TFN? which I'd be happy to supply.
I don't have a business therefore have no need for an ABN or desire to go through the hassle for applying for one.
Furthermore, why should I pay 30% of my mystery shopping revenue (which is probably only a few hundred a year / pocket money) in taxation?
I've done it though them, and can't quite remember their terms specifically, but most companies will accept a 'Statement by Supplier' instead of an ABN.
