Last year I stocked up on the sim packs to use as Play Store credit, and this year I would love to do the same.
Plus they make great gifts.
Do you think they'll make a righteous comeback, or am I just a bit too hopeful?
I only really learnt about the deal thanks to OzBargain, so I don't know if it's a reoccurring deal come Christmas time, but here's hoping.
Do you think the $30 prepaid Telstra Sim packs for $5 will return for Christmas?

Damn, I was unaware of the new changes. Thanks for the informed post.
Yes Freedom Plus was replaced by Prepaid Plus (which comes with $5 premium credit but can't be used for Google Play purchases.) But PP isn't the only prepaid offer, you can still get $30 recharge credit to use on Google Play if you activate on Beyond Talk, Simplicity or Long Life.
I am wondering the same thing,it has been a long while since the amazing starter pack offers. A year or two ago there seemed to be $1/$5/$10 offers at one stage for weeks on end with different telcos… Kogan one at the moment, that is good but not really "stocking up" material..
They launched this new $10 starter kit which gets you 6GB data if activated around Christmas. They might have chosen to offer this sort of time limited bonuses rather than discounting existing product & prevent people from hoarding them.
they only last 7 days
Highly unlikely
As far as i know prepaid credit can no longer be used as Google Play credit.
Incorrect. Carrier billing is no longer available on Pre-Paid Plus plan but is available on the 3 other available plans when you activate (Simplicity, Beyond Talk & Long Life).
Using new sim packs as Premium Credit aka. Play Store credit in it's full value is unavailable to any new prepaid offer effective from a month or so ago.
I'm not entirely sure but I think $30 sim pack/recharge might get you $5 premium credit. Really sucks, but Telstra couldn't keep this up forever.
They clearly lose out. I'm sure shareholders will be much happier now. The hundreds of dollars I've spent on the Google Play store effectively made my Telstra prepaid recharges free. Those abusing the $15< sim packs offer would have profit.
