Cancelling an Order at Masters

Hey people,

I purchased a ride on mower from Masters on 17/10/16 and was told they would send it to the distributor for a white glove service and I should receive it within 7 days from date of purchase.

I called the distributor and they said they've organised for a local repairer to do the service but they may have a back log. I then called the the service agent and he says he hasn't even received it yet.

I can't call the Masters store as their phone lines have been disconnected. It's a 40 minute drive but I plan to go in today to find out what's going on. What are my options? Can I push for a cancellation?

I'll be honest, I am getting serious buyers remorse- the mower is way too big for my needs- I just bought it because all the others had been sold.

So, feel free to tell me to suck eggs, but I just thought it was worth asking OZB as you guys always have a "soft spot" for the beloved Masters.

    Quietly point out to the staff/manager at Masters, that this was promised to you within 7 days. Its now 14 days AND the local repairer hasnt yet received it.

    Tell him you bought with the understanding that it would arrive. Since its not arrived, you have to make other arrangements for supply. Lawn is growing etc etc.

    DON'T say at any time you are having second thoughts because of it being too big for your needs.

    Second/third thoughts because its too late for you plus the added concern that if they are late on a sale delivery then how good will they be with service if it develops a fault.

    Being reasonable with the manager will go a long way. (They are probably being abused by other Ozbargainers every day so it would be a refreshing change)

  • Do you have it in writing that you would get it within 7 days? If so you can push for a cancellation and refund.

      Nothin in writing unfortunately. Just as I was on my way to Masters, I received a call from the service agent, saying he'd just picked it up from them!

        • Got the ride on. It's sitting in my garage, and I've placed an ad on Gumtree :-)
