These are the parts I'm looking to buy from MSY (haven't adjusted prices regarding 10% anniversary sale). Need recommendations for a SSD, case and monitor.
CPU | Intel Core i5-6500 Processor | $268 |
MOBO | Gigabyte B150M-D3H Motherboard | $125 |
GPU | Gainward GeForce GTX 1070 Phoenix | $562.50 |
SSD | ? | |
HDD | Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 2TB | $102 |
RAM | Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (8Gx2) DDR4 2133 | $125 |
PSU | Antec TPC-550 550W | $117 |
OS | Windows 10 | $0 (his a uni student) |
CASE | ? | |
MONITOR | ? | |
Current Total | $1299.5 |
CASE: Coolermaster Masterbox 5 was $99 @ MSY last I looked a week ago.
It's a nice case that's roomier than it looks with amazing cable managment. Other than noise - it allows a lot out. However if you grab a Deepcool Gammax 300 CPU cooler to remove stock cooler noise ($24 @MSY) and optionally an Antec Truequite 140mm to front or back mount (do not get 120mm) for $16 @ MSY than your PC will be nice and quiet. Antec 1400mm is optional since case already has a silent 120mm on it but I wanted positive pressure for dust management.
That said you might be Ok with the noise level of a stock cooler, it's not a jet engine by any means.
These prices are before the 10% sale.
Looks like a very good choice of components so far - you will have a lot of money left for a kick arse monitor BIIIIG monitor.
