1270

Myer Adelaide city store have nearly 70%off on clearance Tvs, even they are older models, still a bargain…got the 78 inch samsung 9 series, saved nearly 12000, RRP is 17990, still selling around 17000 at appliances online.

PS:there is no brand new stock in Adelaide, so mine is delivered from VIC,so i am guessing the price should not only limited to MYER Adelaide.

    • Surely anything about 2500 or so these days comes loaded with "premium TV tax"

  • Mates , anything in Mel CBD Myer going cheap?

  • anything comparable to the ALDI 65" I missed out on in Adelaide not long ago?

    • Pretty sure they're back at ALDI

      • OMG where!?!

        • Sorry, it's the 55" 4K this week for $699

        • @tunzafun001: thanks for getting my hopes up!

  • -8

Must be on a 250k income
    Much like most of whirlpool

Glad some people have 6k to "waste" on a TV haha

    • +18

You laugh at the end but I picture tears in your eyes

    • what about buying cars? Any car that's not a Corolla or Getz might seem like a waste of money to you too!

  • Can u please name some other smaller size models? So i can ask for pricematch
Really tempting but dont wanna spend 6k

  • -5

    Um not even OLED!
    Poor bargain that one!

    • +1

if lucky you may able get a 65inch lg oled (bigest oled in the market?) for around 4000, i prefer the 13 inch bigger suhd which not as good as oled, but quit close picture quality. I think it is easier to tell the size different compare to picture quality.

    • So unless it's OLED it can't be a bargain?

  • +7

Some prices for remaining items, single floor stock only, not much else left:

    LG 55UF680T $850
    Samsung UA55HU8500 $1350
    Panasonic VIErA TH-60CX700A $1375

Thought the LG price was okay but for a 2 year old model and floor stock decided against it. Probably better options around and some of the better deals had probably sold out. If you are interested in any of the above get there first thing tomorrow.

    • +1

      +1 for effort

    • +1

Why floor stock only? OP mentioned they were getting a new one shipped from VIC.

      • +1

Perhaps it was different with the OP's TV as it was so expensive or they only had floor stock remaining now.

  • +1

Just popped into Perth cbd. Same model that op got is available, plus a couple others, although I didn't take down model numbers.

    • Same discounted price too?

      • +3

        Asking the important questions

        • It won't be much help to me, but it would for others in Perth if they were looking for a heavily discounted TV.

        • @unity1: Right you are! Will have to pop in store myself today!

      • +2

I think so. The ticketed price was $12,000, the sign said a further 50% off.

  • Daam bro you scored, nice work!

  • One of my litmus tests for if something is a bargain is can I sell it for what I bought it for if I changed my mind later, and unfortunately something like this would be hard to find a buyer for. How many people actually have space for a 78" TV and want to part with 6k?

  • -1

you paid $6k for a tv - and they charged you $65 delivery……NOT an ozbargain moment !

    • +3

      The $6000 saving is though.

  • Nice work OP, that's a true bargain for sure

    • this is the newer modle, cant tell much different with the old one..but samsung says best ever…

      • +4

They said that about the Note 7 too and we all know how well that turned out

  • I would hate to guess how much money they are earning per electrical item

    • Losing in this case.

  • How good of a projector could you get for 6k?

  • -1

RRP $18K? That's nearly a deposit on a house. Would there actually be anyone out there stupid enough to pay $18K for a TV?

2-3 years time you would be lucky if someone gave you a couple of hundred bucks for it.

    • +2

You do understand to some people 18k is pocket money! Just not on ozbargain =]

    • If there weren't, shops like Len Wallis Audio wouldn't be around.

      • That's true I remember a long time ago walking into a Bang & Olufsen store here and the prices on their stuff had me laughing. I knew a guy that spent $10K on a TV he had plenty of money always bought the most expensive item of everything. Status. He probably got 5 years out of the thing before it ended up on the footpath outside like every other TV.

    • +3

Where can you find a house that 18k is 'nearly a deposit'?

      • +5

        20 mins from Myer, Adelaide

      • Adelaide

      • -1

Everywhere? You only need 10-15k for a deposit, government also offers a $10k grant to first home buyers too

        • +3

          Real OzBargainers don't pay LMI.

        • SA scrapped that $10K grant, didn't it? Unless you're building a house from scratch or something like that. I read something like that on the net a while ago.

        • +1

@AussieDaddy: Correct, grant is for new builds only.

Adelaide median is $435,000 so not sure what a deposit of $18k would get you. Maybe 5% deposit at something around Elizabeth. You'd have to have a pretty strong credit/financial history to actually secure a 5% loan however. Not to mention the burden of the massive LMI on top plus money to pay the Stamp Duty and legals.

        • +1

@dazzywazzy: Yeah, I study full-time and only do part-time casual work so I was eyeing one of those so-called "affordable" homes (a state government scheme, where the highest you would pay for a house is $350,000 or less), as long as you check all the criteria checklist. I do, but I am not sure if I am ready to accept one of the main requirements of the scheme. I am eligible for all of them, except that once you buy one of those houses you can neither sell them, nor rent them. That means, you have to live in them AND not being able to move to somewhere else (well, except when you pay off your entire mortgage). Imagine ending up next to neighbors from hell, or to become unemployed for a long period of time. F that!

Anyway, it was that time, when I was looking at some of those houses online, when I came across an article talking about that the grant was stopped. I have saved a decent deposit to even buy half a million house, but I am a single-income guy, and now I am only doing part-time work so I would rather rent for the time being.

        • +1

@dazzywazzy: $20K got me a deposit on an established 3 bedroom house on a big block at Elizabeth. I did say nearly a deposit on a house, don't buy the $18K TV and come up with another $2K and there you go.

        • @clubberlang: Congrats mate, not a better feeling than purchasing your first home! Just as I said, $18k would be a deposit for somewhere around Elizabeth. You would've of course had to come up with maybe another $10k total of stamp duty / conveyancing etc etc?

        • @clubberlang: Sorry clubberlang, I think i must have clicked someone elses profile thinking it was yours, i thought you were based in melbourne. Unfortunately here there'd be no chance of buying a house with that kind of deposit. Maybe 5-10x that required :( that's a lot of smashed avo (and flat screen tv's)!

    • Even it is 6000 still hurt, but happy if I can get good 5 years out of it, cost around 100 a month, as much as a decent mobile. 5 years later, 8k tv will be around at a good price.

  • +1

Thanks god. I have money to spend.

  • -1

They're all last years models lol

  • +3

Managed to get an OLED 55 inch LG 55EC930T for $1400 at Bankstown Myer. It was the last one but there are afew elsewhere.

    • Can I have a photo of receipt? Thinking to visit Highpoint Myer today.

  • Once you go OLED there is no going back.

  • +4

    What's a modle ?

    • A German general who surrenders at the first sign of russians

  • I grabbed a samsung UA65JS8000 65" for $2150 from Myer Southland.

    Very happy.

  • At myer mel cbd
I do see some good tvs on 50%
But the store rep said they r on display models only

    • -2

      Any AF cameras on sale?

      • actually, the place i uploaded them reduced the quality,.. yuo try be disecrate taking photos for you guys.. anyways, you can work out the price, and the general moel. just no finer specs,…
you get an good idea of what they have

    • +2

      Good effort there.

  • i got a panasonic 40inch fullHD for $325 and i dont know why :(

  • Hello, I'm pretty terrible when it comes to these things…I just visited the Canberra cbd store. They didn't have any of the clearance stickers up. I'm interested in the Samsung 7 and 8 series and asked for them to check the scan prices, only the series 7 had a discount of 500 bucks.

I did notice that they seem to have the ua55k on display, and people here are commenting on the ua55j? So I'm guessing maybe the Canberra cbd store had only newer stock…

    • It comes down to stores managing stock, if they do it well, no discounts

      • Yep fair enough, looks like I'll just wait until after Christmas.

    • Myer Albury seemed to be sold out.

      • Went back to Myer Albury today. There was a 50" Panasonic on hold yesterday and it was available this morning.

I already have a 46". I was tempted but decided I'd find more uses for the $875 than I would for an extra four inches.

        Might still be available.

  • Just a lone Panasonic Viera TH-60CX700A at Myer Shellharbour Square.

  • Loads of TV's still availible in Castle Hill, Sydney. Plenty of Panasonic's, one OLED 55 inch LG 55EC930T and a couple Samsung's.

I didn't get the OLED 55 inch LG 55EC930T, it's a display model, which didn't really put me off, but i'm going to hold out for HDR and 4k Christmas ozbargains. Whilst there i read there may be some slight motion blur issues and i'm not sure about the display. Yes blacks are black but i think you'd need the right lighting to really take advantage of OLED. No doubt it looks great and maybe the jet black, blacks take a little getting used to. I'm going to stick with Sony to pair with my XB1 S.

The OLED 55 inch LG 55EC930T has box and all accessiores for anyone who wants it.

  • +2

Thanka OP! I've bought the same model in brissy :D

  • Generally I found most of the tvs to be an older model by 9-24 months. So prob clearing space for the Xmas sales.
