Batman - Telltale Series Episode 1 FREE (Steam Game)

1260

NOTE THAT THE LINK IS TO THE STEAM TELLTALE SERIES STORE PAGE AND THE FREE GAME IS BELOW
Scroll down a little bit and click the large banner that says "Episode 1 Free - Click Here To Download" and it will give you an option do download instantly, automatically gaining the title in your library.

A lot of the reviews are saying that the story is amazing (expected from Telltale) but there are some bugs, glitches, performance issues ect.
Still worth free amirite?
Here is what Telltale has let everyone know about the issue…

****If you are experiencing performance issues, you may need to update the graphics card drivers to the latest available. If you are using a laptop, please use your dedicated graphics and not intel integrated graphics.*****

It has an overall score of 71% (mostly positive) on steam. Roughly 3,000 reviews.
EDIT
After some amazing detective work by Gooseberry down in the comment section, it turns out that this game may only be temporary and is named a Demo in the properties of the game. It is unlike the limbo deal a while back it was completely free and stayed in your library if not installed. This one requires you to install to stay in your library, and I am unsure if it will disappear on Nov 7. Hopefully not, I still have hope…

Yes, generally steam games are pc only.

      • +1

Didnt they release a console? Linux based with steam skined.

        • -2

yes, it was Steam Machine that came with SteamOS. It didn't really work out for gamers.

        • @cloudwaysazaz: Not sure why you're being negged. The majority of AAA games aren't available on SteamOS.

      • +2

Except for the 3000+ Steam games that will also work on mac (according to http://www.macgamerhq.com/news/steam-mac-games/). Therefore I thought it may be helpful to mention it was PC only so that mac owners didn't all log on to steam only to be disappointed!

Well, PC means Personal Computer and I believe Apple hardware qualifies for that as well.
Really, the distinction should be Windows and iOS.

      ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Now the wait is on for a PS4 or Xbone release for me. Cheers for the post though OP, as my hope and eagerness has been renewed from it.

    Thanks OP.

This deal ends Nov 7 2016 btw.

If you look underneath the tags and the catagory (freebie) it will state that the deal is ending on the 7th.
      Thanks anyway :D

Is there any way to redeem this on a mac so I can then download it on a Windows machine?

    • Yes, redeem it from your web browser

      • That doesn't seem to work. There is no option to redeem from browser. It just keeps trying to open the Steam client.

        • Is there any way you can get to any PC and load up a steam client? Library, School etc?

  • +3

If you delete local content the game disappears from the library so I'm guess I don't get to keep it.

    • +1

yeah hmm i don't think you get to keep it?

    • +1

Hope it doesn't get automatically removed after the offer ends like one of those free weekend plays

    • If you delete the local content of a game, it's just uninstalled & hidden from view. You can then find it again by going to Library > Change view to from "Library" to "Games"

      • +2

        No, not true.

Usually if you delete the local content, it removes the install files, but the game is still showed in your library (not 'hidden' unless you're only showing installed games).

This is different… I quite often add games to my steam library from work (buying bundles and what not). And I can add to my library, but not install, then they're in the library and can be installed at home.

With this, I can go 'install'… but if I choose not to, it's not in my library. It's not a normal add to library, it's not retained.

        So, it's a bit crap. :(

        • What I have done is just press install, let it install like 1mb then pause it. It should stay there for a while saying it is on 1%, download paused.

        • @HeartFeltAxe: Yes, but the point is, it's not permanently in your library.

There have been free games that if you grab them during their free period, then they're in your library forever. This isn't that, it's obviously not actually adding to your library at all, just allowing you to install it during this window.

Yep, if you look at the properties page (right click on the title) and select Updates - you'll see it listed as a Demo rather than a Game - so steam is treating this as a Demo.

You can also open up your steam client on another machine, and it won't be listed in your game library.

      • Good detective work goose! that is very true, and a problem
I guess it is only temporary, sorry to disappoint :(

  • Thanks OP! Big fan of telltale

  • can anyone tell me if all 5 series have been released yet?

I prefer to wait till they are all out otherwise I finish the episode too quickly then wait months for the next and loose interest

    • It's only up to episode 3 so far

      • cheers, might wait a bit longer
