Could I get some advice from members please? Need to update the battery on the iphone 5 to give the phone to my daughter. It currently lasts less than an hour on the factory installed battery. I haven't had any experience buying one before or replacing it, so hoping someone can give me some clues. Many thanks.

Does your battery last for an hour after iOS 10 or it was on iOS 9 also?
I was getting 3-4 hrs with iOS 9 but after iOS 10 it is reduced to <1 hr along with other issues like no silent mode working, irregular charging and improper battery % display. Discussed with Apple store Genius and he said iOS 10 is perfect, the battery itself is drained and rest are hardware issues. He could not answer why everything was ok prior of iOS update and then suddenly all crashed. After long argument, I gave up, since phone was 5 years old. I already factory reset. Surprisingly even those genius cannot revert iPhone back to iOS 9.
Get one from the Apple Store it'll cost you the most.
I bought mine on eBay, and it came with all of the tools needed.
Easy to install, and was $14 delivered from an Aussie vendor with 99.6% approval.
It seems to last the same as the original one.
At the price, I bought a second one in case it does not last too long.
I did the same for my 4S, and it was (and still is) great.
