Probably in a month, I will be moving into my swanky new apartment. Before moving in I am planning to change the carpet in the lounge room with wooden flooring. This makes maintenance easy for us and our baby will be safer from infections caused by carpets. Can you please suggest what is the decent price of good wooden floor material and the cost of laying it by a professional. Also any suggestions of a good company doing it in and around parramatta in sydney, nsw. Thanks.

I replaced carpet with floor boards for the same reason - mine is a townhouse though. I found wooden floor a bit expensive (at that moment) and definitely wanted to replace the carpets.
All big showrooms or brands like Harvey Norman etc quoted roughly 7-8K with labour. Got a reference from my (previous) landlord and the guy did a good job for 4K including material and labour. Plus he was available at a short notice.

Have you checked the Body Corporate rules? Ours prevents us from swapping the "soft" flooring (carpet) for any "hard" flooring (wood, tiles), we have to get some special acoustic barrier put in or something first (I don't know, I just gave up and accepted the carpet). This might limit who you can pick from, since not all flooring places might do that?
