Dodo increased the price of my bill although we are in a 24 month contract without my knowledge. Is this legal?

Just got a debit from my bank to find out dodo took more then what the bill should be and contacted them on the online chat
they said that due to NBN they are increasing the adsl price

  • Seems unreasonable they can change the contact but you can't, but I'm sure there is somewhere in the contract that says they can change the price with 30 days written notice.

Btw this kind of a dupe https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/264140

  • i never got a notice

In that case tell them that because I am pretty sure that's against the law

    • i never got a notice

that may have send a notice that you didn't receive.

Normally if they change the conditions you should be able to rescind the contract and terminate it without penalty.

I believe they are suppose to give 42 days notice of when something like this happens. During the notice, if you do not like it, you can break the contract free of charge. If however after 42 days you do nothing, it's assumed you accepted it.

However since you did not receive any notice, better call them up and demand answers.

called them up and upgraded to nbn instead

cant wait to get 900KB/s on my 100Mb/s connection

      • Lol, ikr. You can get 900KB/s on a 7Mb/s!

But he needs all that 900KB/s bandwidth for il legally downloading mp3's!!

      • nah with my adsl 2+ which is 24Mbps i get <400KB/s

  • I've had telcos give me wrong charges including just changing shit out of the blue on multiple occasions.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a deliberate campaign to rip people off but that's telcos for you.
