Is It Possible to Convert a FTTN Connection to a FTTP?

Is there anyway to ask for (or request) or pay for an upgrade to a FTTP NBN connection? (Coming from a FTTN NBN connection)

  • Even if it were possible a new house already with FtTP would be a cheaper option.

    • Why or how so?

  • No, in theory, Yes if you have LOTS of $$$

Unless you are in an area with existing fttp ducting and want to pay the huge costs to get it to your door, money can make anything happen however, for a residential dwelling most people could not afford the works required and scope documents to get the works done

Granted it cost 8k just to get Telstra HFC cabling put into an apartment block I am in, I would hate to see what FTTP would cost

    • Damn. Hmm now I am wondering what the average estimated costs would be or are for a FTTN connection compared to a FTTP connection.

  • no.

you could contact an ISPs business centre and get a business fibre service but youll be paying $1000s a month.

You can check the very long Whirlpool thread where people have tried to do this under NBN's "Technology Choice" program.

In short, no, its not possible, even for those who have tried to get a quote. The whole program is a sham

      This.
The mtm was meant to allow for cost effective upgrade to fttp, but it is effectively a lie told by politicians hoping nobody will notice until later. The NBN is just such a bad thing now, compared to what could have been.

      • Thanks to Malcom Turnbull and his friends at Telstra that are now getting even richer while we pay for terrible services. Still, if the brain dead voting public want the charlatan pig in power who am I to argue.

        • You and me both man. I still somehow believe the voting polls are rigged takes of tin foil hat but only because I hate thinking of the only other option :( sigh

        • @AlienC:
At least we don't have to participate in the Trump/Clinton fiasco.

Oh man I can just imagine how enraged the Americans must feel right now having to deal with that conundrum.
