Bepanthen Scar Treatment is a silicone-based scar cream that helps improve the appearance of new and old scars. With Pro-Vitamin B5, it nourishes and helps heal the skin from scarring. It contains Dexpanthenol that accelerates the formation of new tissue to reduce and manage the appearance of scars. It also contains antiseptic properties to fight against bacteria present on the skin.

      My medical expertise is limited to falling off a motorbike in a 3rd world country and having a bit of scar tissue to deal with, but this product appears to be just a tube of silicon + moisturizer.
      Interestingly there ARE studies to show that silicon is useful to help heal some kind(s) of scars (even many years after the scar formed).
      The only other scar treatment (I found) backed by studies is cortisone which has a number of side effects.

      Having said that, you can buy a 100ml bottle of Luxe (or similar medical grade pure silicone lube) from the supermarket for less than $10 - it's pretty much the same stuff.

      It's significantly better than Bio-Oil for discoloured and raised scars.

    Highly recommend Cica-care silicon sheets. Pricey but works well. Bought a sheet 19 years ago, found it in the cupboard and still intact. Easy to wash and reuse.
