About CableGeek

CableGeek stocks the largest range of Anker cable products in Australia (and we are rapidly expanding our product catalogue to also include multiple models of Anker power banks and chargers by the end of this year). All products are immediately available and shipped from Melbourne. (Unlike AliExpress you definitely don't need to wait 20-41 days for your cables.) Our prices are great and we can match any price on Anker products quoted by local sellers.

Why Anker?

CableGeek has sold over 300 Anker cables so far and we have only heard good things from our customers. Put it simply Anker's cable products are among the best in the industry, in terms of build quality, design, durability and spec compliance. Charging speeds depend on multiple factors but a high-quality cable is a must-have. CableGeek also offers 18-month Australian warranty on all Anker products.

  • Unmatched low defect rate: <0.5% across all product lines over 18 months (vs 3% industry average), based on the stats provided by Anker
  • Premium design and engineering: I prefer Anker cables over the original ones because of they are better looking. They are incredibly durable too, watch this tough test video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2crISE-TLxE
  • Fast charging speeds. Anker's Micro USB and USB-C cables are absolutely the best performers in the industry. Combined with Anker's PowerIQ technology used in Anker PowerPort USB charger or Anker PowerCore+ power banks, the charging speed is as fast as the phone can safely handle.

    Anker Micro USB Cable

Is this the narrow version, the N-Anker or the wide version, the W-Anker ???

    • +2

This is the new standard version. Picture: https://assets.cablegeek.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/a…

(Unfortunately there's a lack of high-quality images for this product because it's only sold in some emerging markets.)

      • +2

This is the new standard version.

        Oh, the S-Anker… Thanks…

      • +5

        OP, you're being conned. 😁

        • +12

That's what I thought after 10 minutes of intense googling of the terms… I mean I have read through the specs of all Anker cables and I don't recall anything like that.

        • +3

@CableGeek: 10 minutes of searching for W-Anker would have given you some interesting responses.

      • +1

Unfortunately there's a lack of high-quality images for this product because it's only sold in some emerging markets.

        Take some photos? =)

  • Will you be selling the 5 pack of the powerline cables?
    https://www.amazon.com/Anker-5-Pack-PowerLine-Micro-USB/dp/B…

Or the charger that supports QC 2.0/3.0?
    https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-Compatible-PowerPort-Po…

I would prefer to buy both locally if the price is comparable.

    • +2

We don't sell cable packs at the moment due to Anker shrinking SKUs for resellers. A QC 3.0 charger will be available in the new year, and the price will definitely be great (comparable to Amazon, with free Australian shipping) and it will be fully certified for use in Australia (with RCM mark or equivalent).

  • What is so amazing about these cables that they cost almost $10?

    • +2

You should ask Apple that with their MFI certified cables, but they charge $20-30!

Did some reading and came upon this CNET article, https://www.cnet.com/au/news/when-are-expensive-cables-worth….
It focuses on cable use for picture and sound quality and it's conclusion for that was simply; expensive cables aren't worth it.
But it does make a very important distinction to charging devices; "The exception is with USB cables used to charge devices. Not all USB cables can charge devices at the same rate." Coincidentally, they reference another article which recommends Anker’s PowerLine Micro USB (3ft).
From my experience, USB cables I've paid more for; feel better, work with every device, last longer. The cheapies I've purchased on ebay have not lasted or worked with all devices.

      • My experience has been the same as S2

  • Any deals on Anker Lightning cables soon OP?

  • A good (recent) review about the Anker Powerline cables: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-micro-usb-cable/

    • And a recent warning about the Powerline USB-C cables. Don't destroy your device

I'm glad I decided to search before buying. I have some Anker products I am happy with, but won't be buying their USB-C cables until they sort that issue out.

      • +1

And Anker are recalling (or have recalled) the faulty cables. See here: https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung/posts/CEnvJhhTCip

Cablegeek, do the USB-C connector cables you sell have this problem or have they been updated? Do you know about this issue?

        • +1

I'm aware of this issue and none of the cables we sell are subject to the recall. We imported all our USB-C cables after the USB-C recall incident.

        • @CableGeek: Thanks for the quick response.

        • @CableGeek: Hopefully direct from Anker and not surplus from Amazon ;p

If your stock is guaranteed not part of the recalled batch, then I will buy. Do they come in a 0.3 metre length?

        • @Flyerone:

Anker doesn't have 0.3m USB-C cables. The recalled model is the USB-C to USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 model, the closest we have is USB-C to USB-C 3.1 Gen 1, which is definitely safe to use.

  • +1

Bought one. See how it goes.

  • +1

Would like multipacks please. Sick of fail Tronsmart cables inevitability becoming loose.

    • +1

i thought it was only me with this problem. in fact, most of my micro usb cables are working intermittently with something loose somewhere.

Will buy a couple to check out.

btw, i think my blitzwolf reversible cable is still going well.

  • Hey OP, I wanted to ask if you could please do a deal on the "Xiaomi USB Type-C to HDMI Multiport Adapter"?
I'm looking to buy one for a trip overseas and would prefer to buy local stock - if the price is right ;)
    Thanks! :)

    • I can't do a standalone deal on OzBargain for this because the quantity is limited. However I can offer a further 10% off (on the sale price with free shipping) for the last 2 units in stock. Use code XIAOMIHDMI10 to take advantage of this offer. Be quick!

      • Thanks, appreciated :)
Customer service seems to be pretty good so far haha ^.^

  • How do these compare to blitzwolf as they seem to be half the price ?

    • +1

Both Blitzwolf and Tronsmart failed to charge my Galaxy Tab S 10.1 but Anker did it. Also the charging seems a little faster but haven't actually measured.

      • Kewl thanks it will be only for charging my s6 and wont somthing that has fast charging

  • +1

I have an HTC M7 phone. Can somebody tell me which cable should I buy for charging. Thanks.

    • HTC M7 has a Micro USB port, so any Micro USB cable should work.

      • Thanks
