Woolworths Petrol Trials New Fuel Discounts

Yesterday I went to my local Woolworths Caltex Petrol station in Mirrabooka, Perth to fill my tank. Because I always fill up with 150 Litres I take advantage their promotion of spending $5 in store to save another 4c on top of the already discounted fuel with Woolworths Rewards, however yesterday I was told their store no longer offered this deal.

I was told that Woolworths are trialing 3 different models for extra discounts and all stores have been assigned to one of the deals during this trial, the 3 groups are:

Group 1) No extra discounts on top of the normal 4c vouchers
Group 2) Spend $5 in store to get an extra 4c off per litre (8c when combined with 4c Voucher)
Group 3) Spend $10 in store to get an extra 10c off per litre (14c when combined with 4c Voucher)

I was told Woolworths Petrol in Mirrabooka is part of group 1 and offers no extra discounts in store, with the trial lasting 3-4 months before one model is selected for all stores. I am now on the hunt to find a store in group 3 for an extra 10c off, any help with this in the Northern Perth Suburbs woould be great!

EDIT: Other stores in Perth area:

Group 1 - Canning Vale, Southern River (thank to xt20's Post) & Subiaco
Group 2 - Osborne Park, Greenwood, Kingsley, Floreat.
Group 3 - None found yet

Live up to your name, run on empty until you find Group 3 station. :)
Caltex Mirrabooka is my local station too, I filled there a week ago but didn't see any change.

    • Yes, I may resort to pushing my car to the fuel station when needed.

    • You may also overheat your fuel pump.

  • Hopefully the name isn't because of a failed Perth car club ;)

Why is your username so perfect?

I took a very long deep look at my life and chose the first thing that came to my thoughts..when that username was taken I tried this one, some things are meant to be!

      • Hahahaha awesome!

Caltex Woolworths Canning Vale and Southern River are in Group 1 too.

    • Forgot to mention that I added this info to my post, thanks

Don't be surprised if the "Group 3" stores have higher prices by default. Mirrabooka (and Canning Vale, and Southern River amongst others such as South Lake and Greenwood) are always set as the cheapest of the Woolies Petrol outlets, especially between Friday-Monday regardless of the background price cycle. I think the best litmus test here would be to compare whcih group Greenwood and Kingsway are in as they are less then 500 metres from each other - Greenwood always has heavy discounting most days of the week where Kingsway never deviates from the pricing cycle.

    • Thanks, Ill take a look when I'm driving past next

Greenwood and Kingsley are both in group 2, up to 8c off along with Osborne Park

  • Question: What type of car do you drive that has a 150L tank and how long does that last you?

    • Lasts about 10km.

    • I own a Toyota Prado, it has a standard 180L Tank. According to the dash display I am averaging 12.5L/100kms, with my driving it lasts a few weeks

  • How cheap is milk and dunny paper at Woolies Petrol?

    • Milk is same price as woolworths grocery store! $2 for the cheap stuff, which I try to avoid as it rips off the farmers

      • You sure it actually rips them off?

        • It has been well documented in the media by different news organisations, the cheap prices for milk has resulted in farmers being offered less for their milk, not only from Woolworths but also other dairy processor's who are trying to compete with Woolworths. Some farmers are actually losing money because it has cost more to produce the milk than what they are offered for payment.

        • @running on empty: What stuff do you buy?

        • Normally Junk food, lollies, drinks etc..anything really. As long as I fill up 150L it's all free plus they actually give me an extra dollar ($6 discount total)..so I make a buck too. I make sure I only visit on cheap fuel days too.

  • The whole thing looks to be up in the air soon with Woolworths looking to sell their petrol business. No idea what will happen with 4c/L discounts, rewards points, cheap milk/bread and gift cards for payment.

    • Really? Gee, soon they'll just be WW the supermarket.

      • Its looking like it might go that way. There was talk a while back about the possibility of selling off their liquor business as well as calls from investors to sell off Big W to put the money and resources back into the supermarket business.

It's a shame because I liked the fact that all those stores were covered by the one gift card and rewards card along with all the cross promotion. Dick Smith gone, Masters going, petrol possibly going, whats next Big W?

        • So coles wins.

        • Perhaps it's no coincidence and the model is unsustainable?

  • Sorry to make a side step in this post but yesterday I filled up with $30+ of diesel and when I went to pay and handed over my Everydayrewardscard the cashier said that I had scored $10 off my next shop at woolies. Went to woolies this morning and received $10 off.

It's good and all but why did i get $10 off?

You must have reached 2000 points with that fuel purchase. 2000 points= $10 off your shopping

      Taken from Woolworths Website:

"You'll earn 1 point for every dollar you spend in store and online at Woolworths supermarkets, BWS and Caltex Woolworths fuel outlets (excludes Tasmania, Start Mart and Star Shop)"

      • Cool. Cheers.
