Exhaust Fan with Draught Stopper or Not?

I'm deciding whether to choose
- IXL Eco Ventflo 250
http://ixlappliances.com.au/product-details/eco-ventflo/1032…

OR
- clipsal cef40

For my bathroom.

I like the ixl due to the draught stopper, while the other one because of the looks.

Do you guys think it is best to install draught stopper exhaust fan in Victoria?

What I heard, exhaust fan with draught stopper created a moisture bathroom during winter?

  • Got 2 fans with draft stoppers.
Just make sure you use the fan when showering, dry shower when finished with a window wiper, helps prevent mold, and leave fan on for a bit.
No mold in my bathroom, and it is very nice and warm, no longer cold as it used to be.

One came with draft stopper the other was an add-on.
The one which came with it is very noisy.
The other one was a standard round fan with quite energy efficient motor and added draft stopper popped over it. Less noise, less energy usage. Same price. Same function.

    • Thanks for your response.

I suspect, when you are talking about "one came with draft stopper" is the IXL?
And "the other one" is talking about Clipsal?

If yes, "the other one" is square, not round though?

You can add an aftermarket draft stopper to any fan, they are about $30 https://www.pureventilation.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/0… That alone shouldn't dictate what fan you get. I am in Vic and have them in my bathroom and ensuite. I've not had a problem with moisture buildup at all. They work best to hold in the winter heat from central heating etc., where it would normally be lost due to an open hole in the ceiling. The flaps only open when the fan is running. If the fan is on when the lights are in use, the room will be ventilated in a few seconds, so buildup of steam is unlikely. It would take longer than that to get out of the shower and dry off.

      • Yep the aftermarket are great .. you select your own exhaust fan. Unless they are really unusual the rotor is still round regardless of shape of the fan frame.
