Which BIG W store please? Was there more than one in stock?

  • +2

It says Killzone on the price tag. You sure it is Destiny?

  • +1

That looks like a Kmart shelf ticket not Big W

  • +1

    -Edit-

    OP added in correct image.

  • +1

Also, that pic says Killzone not Destiny.

  • Cheers OP, looks like there was a mix up with the photos? Good post

  • +5

Sorry everyone! I uploaded the wrong picture. The correct picture should now be showing.

it's useless because to play the 'full' game you need to buy:
    expansion 1 & 2 = $40
    Taken King = $70
    rise of iron = $45

    • +2

You can buy them all in one package for like $80…

    • Don't forget Playstation Plus to be able to play any of the PvP game modes and PvE playlists. I just bought a cheap 2nd hand PS4 then had to shell out $143 just to play this damn game with other people. Other wise everything is locked out behind 'Requirements not met' messages.

Having played over 1000hours of this game (http://www.wastedondestiny.com/playstation/soulofthehunter, up until TTK, then I raged out) I recomend people avoid it and try Warframe instead. It's free, doesn't require PS+, and if you do spend any money (optional) then you get a hell of a lot more than what Bungie bleed you for.

That said, I believe the cheapest physical local copy of Destiny Collection is $74 from Big W. Buying the game at this point (assuming there are no more expansions that they haven't included) is fairly good value. Bungie/Activision have proved that there are bigger c***s than EA and Ubisoft out there when it comes to screwing over customers with DLC. DLC that not only adds content, but removes the ability to effectivly use the content you originally paid for.

  • +1

This is an online only game isn't it?

    • +2

      I think yes.

    • +4

Yes you can't play this game offline

  • +2

Do not buy this - they took all the content out to make you buy the expansions. I actually didnt think you'd be allowed to do that, but me and friends use to love playing this until the first expansion which cut down the main game significantly.

    • Yup, those greedy fockers at Bungie will never see another cent out of me for this very reason…

      • It wasn't Bungie who cut the game up, it was Activision. Activision are the ones distributing the game and telling Bungie to cut it up to sell in chunks. If I could give my money directly to Bungie I would. I have over 2000hours on this game in 3 years. I think the price of content is very reasonable and the community surrounding it for a FPSMMORPG type of game on consoles is almost worth the admission price alone. Go back to playing CoD and stop moaning about things you obviously have no clues about.

        • +4

That's a bit much dude. It's definitely reasonable to be annoyed that a game you bought for $60-80 is now unplayable and in order to continue you have to keep buying expansions. It's unprecedented and whilst you may be correct in stating it could be worth the money, it shouldn't be forced upon people that maybe just want to keep playing with their mates.

        • -3

@ONEMariachi: It's unreasonable to assume any game will have years of content for you and your mates for an initial sum. Destiny is in its third year. You expected to pay $60 for a game that is continually being added too for 3 years? You can go out and pick up the base game plus 4 expansion packs for around the $80 mark. If you are getting into Destiny now, it's a great time. 3 years worth of content and updates for that magical $80 cut off.

No one is forcing you to buy extra content and for $10, there is still plenty of content in vanilla Destiny for people to enjoy and is well worth the $10. I have paid more for stupid iPad apps I have played less than Vanilla Destiny.

        • +5

@pegaxs: Actually dude, vanilla destiny had a whole bunch of the content cut. I have no problem with them charging for more content, very reasonable, it's when they remove orignal content that you paid for to force your hand to buy that extra dlc, they are absolutely forcing the purchase of DLC. Heaps of old end game content was completely cut when Taken King was introduced, even for all the people that bought the first 2 expansions. I enjoy destiny and have bought the new content, but you can't sit here and say that everyone has to be happy with their game having content removed unless they make another purchase.

To put it to another industry, imagine you bought a car. Then a year later they came and removed the cd player from your car and you only got it back if you added on a rearview camera to the car. You'd be rightfully pissed, jsut as others are with Destiny. It's fine for the people taht want the rearview mirror, but the ones that were fine without that, anger is valid.

        • -2

@ONEMariachi: Very poor analogy. They didn't come over to your house and take anything back. It was more along the lines of someone (Bungie) designed a great car (Destiny) with sooo many features and was ground breaking, then needed help getting that idea out into the market and asked for assistance from Ford (Activision) to help them. Ford (Activision) then said, look, this is great, but we are going to break it up into pieces and sell it over a few years because we are greedy distributors.

So, it's more like buying a car and being told it was going to be a Ferrari but paying Hyundai price. You are a little upset because you were told it was going to be a Ferrari. Then after a few months, they (Activision) release a new part that should have been on the original, but the distributors didn't want to sell you that Ferrari for Hyundai prices. You buy it, only because you wanted that Ferrari that you thought you were entitled too at Hyundai prices…

i still think the money I have invested into the game pales in comparison to the amount of enjoyment and friends I have made. VoG is still fun. CE is now a 3 man strike and KF does t require "must be 335" posts. People forget this content is fun, and only write it off because of the artificial level increases that come with each DLC.

My original point was, it was not Bungie that cut the game up, but Activision. If you want a great $10 game, then vanilla destiny is a great game for $10. DLC content is not required if you want a $10 game. If you like the game, you buy the upgrade and get 4 DLC ad ons. If you don't, you get hours of entertainment for $10.

        • @pegaxs:

It's incredible that you said my analogy was poor, yet yours was completely false and so absolutely wrong it's hilarious. They didn't release parts of a ferrari with that intention that was not even remotely what they marketed their game as, they released a full game that would receive DLC, (one that changed completely from e3, and the beta), then afterwards took away parts of that full game when adding new dlc(also something they never said they would do), and didn't give it back unless you bought Taken King. It's insane that you are arguing with this, because this is what happened. Please figure this out. there are countless articles from reputable videogame webistes also stating exactly what I'm saying and none agreeing with you.

    • +1

Wow, I had no idea. Thanks for this post.

  • +6

    The original is useless

  • +1

Can someone please clarify for me?

Like, when Destiny came out, it bored me and I didn't care, and I still don't, but it was a full game, wasn't it?

I'm aware they've at least HEAVILY shifted focus onto the expansions and whatnot, but have they actually cut shit from the main game or? Like, could you buy this version and still get a bunch of hours out of it or?

I have a billion other games to get through anyway, and it's been ten bucks everywhere for ages so if I wanted it I'd have grabbed it by now, but I just really wanna know. Thanks!

    • Like, rokay.

    • +1

I recommend buying the $58 version that was posted above. That is a great deal. The vanilla game gets you the first missions and most likely the vault of glass raid which you'll struggle to find a group for as few people run the old raids.

You'll also find that a bunch of the content the game promotes won't be available to you as you haven't purchased the full game.

    • It's unplayable now, you need to get the full version with all expansions. IT's a weird business model.

  • Sweet….a cheap game to throw in with my PS4 for the Pro trade-in deal at EB.

    Thanks for posting.

    • -2

Only an idiot would do the trade in.

      • +1

Haha…$250 for a PS4 and a crap game is fine by me but carry on with your very mature name calling.

      • -1

lol, relax. You're right but chill.

        • Sorry mate didn't mean to come across like that. I Just can't understand why anyone would go for the EB deal.

        • @jjno41: Well let's see…

          • guaranteed trade-in of $250 whereas I have no idea what I would get privately;

          • I only have the one controller and no games to sell and I see PS4's going for $300 with two controllers and 3 games so $250 sounds like a good deal to me;

          • I don't have to worry about it not selling, shipping fees, people screwing me around on Gumtree and hagglers; &

          • I don't need to be without a console before getting the Pro as prices will drop even more once it release.

There you go, that's why I am going for that deal.

        • @Jonesy7707: I've finished with Destiny, I'll be using it for the EB trade-in deal with my launch model PS4.
That way I get a new console (PS4 Pro), new controller and a new warranty.

        • @Jonesy7707:
Cool. I thought it was $210 off so would only be $200 (because of the $10 game) for the PS4 and that's off RRP of $559 but realistically you should be looking at paying around $500 on release from the big stores So potentially only getting back $150 for 500GB or $200 for 1TB.
I totally get you don't wanna mess around on Gumtree but for an extra 70-100 bucks in the pocket, it may be worth taking a look at.

  • $300 for the1tb model. Same as above jumping on the eb trade deal. Can't be bothered with gumtree.

  • Lots of passionate opinions in this thread. Quite amazing.

  • This should have been the price upon first release of the game, period, given how little content the original had.
I rather play world of tanks than this…
