This is probably because of the new pebble time 2 watches are out and the pebble core is just around the corner

Prices are likely to drop further over the next few months

Does it have a vibrating alarm?

    • +8

      Yes

    • +2

Vibration is very strong too. Much better than Xiaomi MiCrap

      • +2

Ah good. I've been sleeping through my Xiaomi lately.

          I agree!

        • @fookos: haha missed it

      • +4

I like to think he found the answer himself in the 30 min between posts

        • Yea exactly. I assume he was posting to help others. If not he doesn't need to answer himself publicly haha

SMS sending also works with iPhones since July this year.

have one of these and it was very easy to set up with Android, works very well. I particularly like seeing who is calling or sms'ing from my watch when my phone is in my pocket and I'm in a meeting etc, and the calendar reminders help me avoid missing meetings. Service wise, I did have some problems with my earlier Pebble Classic but Pebble's customer service was fantastic.

I can't get into the look of this one. In some ways I even prefer the sleek look of the black classic.

    • Still rocking a Pebble Steel, best looking one imo.

      • +1

Me too, I bought my OG steel when I could have had the time for the same price.

  • Pebble sent me one of these to replace my Pebble original that had the flashing blank screen issue. I love it. Works so well and is very well made. I actually think they look quite good (I have the black one).

  • I literally started looking into watch yesterday and almost bought pebble time from Amazon yesterday, it is still in my shopping cart.

Why not? Pebble time 2 is coming out next month, (and it's going to be almost twice as expensive. )

Make sure to watch review before you buy, coz the time doesn't have heart rate monitor and lack of many fitness function.

For me, I just need something big screen war h, I don't really track my workout, but there are many other additions to the time 2. One being 10days battery life. Every every from time is postive, especially the battery life (ofc with the functionality and screen the pebble designs, that is somewhat expected.)

I really wish there is a good watch lasts 3 days at least. I wouldnt go lower than that.

Gear s3 is what I am looking at. But it might be as expensive as a phone.

  • Does it work with iPhone?

Gizmodo has a write up on the newer version referred to above for those interested in what's coming next before purchasing the prior gen:

Isnt there a massive issue with screen tear. Looks pretty nasty. I almost picked up the steel on the last sale but yeah looked into screen tear and was put off.

    • +1

I believe those were only an issue with the first model/generation of Pebbles, and doesn't affect the Pebble Time. I've had mine for well over a year now and it's been perfect.

      • Yeah, it definitely affects the first gen. I actually sent off a support request for another original Pebble today, after the original I had which was replaced by their support previously started having the same problem with screen tearing.

However outside of that it's a fantastic watch, and hasn't stopped me pre-ordering a Time 2 and Pebble Core.

        • I don't think they replace the same watch twice. My replacement steel has button issues but they refused me a replacement model.

        • @theguyrules: Replacement Pebbles get either a 3 months warranty, or the remainder of the original watch's warranty, whichever is longer. Your warranty must have expired.

        • @shiznit: That'll do it. Bummer.

      • well a lot of OzB members say otherwise and youtube is littered with teargate.

anyway i hope the newer model dosent do the same thing.

  • for $120 it's great. excellent christmas gift.
30 metre Water resistant for those summer sports in and around water
    7-10 day battery

  • Still not seeing any reason to upgrade from my old pebble classic.

It is rare these days to find ongoing support for early versions of hardware. Sure the old hardware has limitations, but I still get updates. I will no doubt look at another pebble in future.

Pebbles are completely waterproof. Battery lasts well - as long as you don't wear it on 20km+ runs and even then I still get one to two full days. I can get five days if I only use it when not training and just 'normal' levels of activity.

If you don't have a pebble, but are thinking of a smart watch, they are well worth considering.

Still surprises people now and again when I scan my loyalty cards (supercheap/flybuys/danmurphy/woolies) from my watch. Almost worth it just for that.

    • Pebble classic and Pebble steel haven't had any updates for a while and they won't be getting anymore. Only the Pebble Time and later models have moved on to OS 4. Still, I agree that they work fine for what they are.

  • My gen 1 steel is nearing the end of its days I feel, battery life down to maybe 3-4 days max. This price is fantastic and with the new model coming out is only set to get lower.

    • mine is down to 2 days max!
its been an awesome watch for well over 2 years :)

  • the pebble 2 is the only fitness tracking you need
