Hi, Honolulu and budget probably don't belong in the sentence but I'll try anyway. Can anyone recommend clean and fairly central (I don't drive) accommodation in Honolulu at about $125/day. Would also appreciate tips on restaurants, bars etc. Many thanks in advance.
Advice on Honolulu Budget Accommodation

Hostel is cheap - I looked idly on AirBNB and they were US$50/night.
My wife is dead keen to go back to Hawaii but it's so expensive now that the AU/US dollar is the wrong way around.
Thanks a lot for the responses. I would've preferred a hotel but without sacrificing an organ :D. I guess I might have to go the Airbnb route.
This is the kind of thing you'll get for your money over there https://www.kayak.com.au/Honolulu-Hotels-Makiki-Heights-Driv…
There are some half decent ones around Waikiki for $150 a night.
We stayed at Makaha but you definitely need a car for there.
We've stayed twice at the Waikiki Grand across the road from the Honolulu Zoo - great studio apartments. Prices vary according to level of fittings and seasonal pricing but it is at the end of the strip so price is great. We've paid between 85 - 130 dollars a night - many of them are listed on AirBnB
Can't get more budget than this! https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/13756324
$54 per night
Thanks so much, will look at all suggstions. Any bargain dining tips out there?
We didn't find meals particularly cheap either.
Best thing to do is keep an eye out for coupons, USA loves coupons.

I've only ever rocked a hostel because its so expensive in Honolulu. There are some decent 3 star hotels that will still require you to sell 1 organ but most require you to remortgage the house.
So essentially if you can commit to a hostel then that is by far the cheapest option otherwise a cheap 3 star or maybe an airbnb would be the next place to look.
