does the 1.2k 55" compare at all to the 8000 samsung? great price! Thanks for sharing!
No comparable to the 55ku6000. But be aware motion flow 200 =50hz where the 65 is 100hz.
how would this go replacing my hdmi computer monitor?
would this be any good for gaming?
Should be good for games/movies not so much for text etc
I've been waiting for the 9300D, many thanks.
I'll wait for the KD65X9300D to go on sales in the next 2 months.
We are now officially at 6 months of you saying that buddy.
I grabbed the 9300D a couple of weeks ago for $1,830 from Bing Lee. Very very good TV and I can't recommend it enough. So if you're thinking of grabbing it, go for it! Just a shame this deal isn't as cheap as before.
How?
There was a Bing Lee 20% off on their eBay store. Their eBay items were also discounted. Turned out to be a huge saving.
Can anyone comment on the viewing angle of the screen?
The viewing angle of the KD55X7000D is much better than the LG IMHO
Does anyone know when this deal finish? I am moving interestate in two weeks so I cant buy it right now. Thank you.
I am looking for a 55 inch HDR 4k tv, can anyone please tell if this SONY better than the LG sold by Goodguy?
link of the LG TV.

PS.. the SONY one i meant model 7000D.
7000D is the same model as KD55X7000D. I bought the Sony!
Yeah i am thinking to get either one of those. Any suggestion which one is better?
I recently bought the 9300D on the eBay 20% deal, fantastic displays, good for Xbox one s, might need a sound bar up to you.
I bought the Sony KD55X7000D last week from The Good Guys for $1495. In my opinion it's a fantastic TV for the price!
Now how do I go about TGG 120% price guarantee? Sony is not listed as an approved retailer on their site. That shouldn't matter with their price guarantee should it?
Chances are they might not let you claim that because it's a coupon on ebay. Or simply because it's on ebay.
It was NOT purchased on eBay. Bought in store.
I mean the cheaper price you're comparing to is on ebay
@zeffman:
No, this lower price is on the Sony website
do you by any chance you know if its optical out passthrough 5.1 audio dd or dts?
What's this mean? Should HDR need some hardware support like multiple back light sources, so they can tune themselves accordingly to the dark orlight colour showing on the screen?
Or it could happen in either way or with both way? If software could make the HDR happen, why not just buy an ALDI 65 inch ($799) plus a TV BOX with HDR ($60)?
Could anyone please tell me if the SONY KD55X7000D or LG 55UH652T do hardware of software HDR?..
No - the hardware has to support HDR first, then it's up to the software to support that hardware.
And as Ripped said below, putting HDR on an Aldi TV would be like putting lipstick on a pig…
You're too concerened about HDR and 4K. ALDI / cheap panels may be 4K, but the contrast is rubbish anyway. HDR or not. LCD for that matter is just such a poor tech (compared to plasma and OLED) that it's all kind of meaningless. I'd be buying a better quality panel over a cheap pos with bells and whistles.
All the cheap panels do is prove my point. A 5yr old Sony or Samsung 1080p LCD will look better than the cheap branded 4K, HDR panels. Plasma hasn't been made for 5 years and still looks a lot better than any LCD, despite resolution. Nothing will ultimately make LCD look great, it's just a crap tech. More brands need to back OLED and stop filling the market with rubbish.
So who actually makes the best LCD panels?
I know LCD so well in the computing space and there are some nice IPS panels I can happily look at all day. Most TVs make me cringe though.
What brands/models use decent panels?
Id say samsung are making the best lcd panels atm.
It tends to vary I think, depending on who has the latest and greatest out at the given time. Any of Sony, Samsung and Panasonic I'd say. Do some research online, always your best bet. Go for the best black level / contrast no.1.
I see the 55" has a headphone outlet, so I can use my bluetooth transmittor and headphones with the TV.
It's a real shame Android TV on Sony means you can't use a Bluetooth headset out of the box (no A2DP support). Plenty of disgruntled customers on the Sony forums over this.
Does this have HDR10 support. 10bit colour?
i wonder how bad the input lag is also?
i have an xbox one slim and was thinking this is the beast im after….???
Oh it's a beast alright HDR10 is supported and HDMI 2.0
Which model, 7000 or 9300
The 9300, bit of a input lag but it's barely noticeable unless you are a super pro gamer
Do you have the glasses and have you tried 3D?
Don't have the glasses so haven't tried 3, sadly my 2yo tipped it over n it's now damaged:(
Oh wow, you only just bought it.
@crash2491:
hope your baby wasnt hurt. maybe good to use the fitting supplied so it doesnt tip.
Thanks she's fine but TV has a crack right in middle, repaiman coming today for a quote, not sure how much it's going to cost!
Apparently the 7000D model doesn't have HDR even with the update according to amazon. I believe the US version is 700D, I maybe wrong.
https://www.amazon.com/Sony-XBR55X700D-55-Inch-Ultra-Model/d…
The 7000D does have HDR.
I meant according to amazon reviews. Well its a US model, could be a different TV entirely. I want to know if these reviews are valid for this one.
Of course they aren't entirely valid, usually features are added or omitted depending on region.
And even if the hardware is identical, it means nothing if the software isn't.
Awesome deal - sad because we bought this TV a week ago :-(
Given this is online only, even though it's free delivery, does this mean price protection insurance won't cover the difference?
Just reading the Citibank terms and conditions and it says: (Citibank Platinum Card)
'The cheaper covered product is available from a store within a 25 kilometre radius of the store where you purchased the covered product;'
Thanks in advance.
Just give them the address of your local sony store and link the website.
(Is what i'd do)
Huh…. apparently their Perth store recently closed. :/ TIL. Surprised by that, theyve been there for over 10 years.
edit: Well, turns out theyve shut most of them down. Only got 1 left in melbourne.
I'd never even seen nor heard of a Sony store.
What about Sony Kiosk?
@PW:
Nope, never heard of Sony Kiosk either.
I suppose you're also going to tell me they have Sony Snack Bars as well?
Great, purchased a 9300D yesterday at the discounted price.
Just received an email from Sony this morning stating they are "unable to process my order", and the price on their website is back up.
Price on the 7000D has gone up too
Nice prices, also a decent savings by using Cashrewards folks, don't forget that! :)
