Hi, can anyone recommend a good and cheap air conditioning company which supplies split air con and does installation.
Do you think is cheaper to buy the air con units from appliance stores and get someone to install or is it cheaper to get an air conditioning company that supplies split air con and does installation?

I have downloaded all the data and created a spreadsheet with colour codes for the important selection criteria such as noise, energy use, reliabilty, customer satisfaction. I won't make it publicly available but if you PM me I can analyse it for the power level of AC you are looking for and send you the results.
I have analysed the 2.5kW split ACs available at Kambos with and without installation.
Kambos' Standard Installation includes:
2 meters of pipework and 15 meters of electrical cable.
Based on single storey home with easy access, back to back with the outdoor unit sitting on solid, stable ground.
Site must be structurally and electrically sound, free of asbestos and hazardous material.
Jobsite unseen by Kambos.
Unit has been sized by the customer, onus is on customer for selecting the correct size.
Onus is on licenced installer regarding suitability of that air conditioner. Installation is at the discretion of the installer as well as any additional costs outside of what is included in a standard installation.
Onus is on customer to follow through with any promotions, redemptions, gifts or cashbacks offered by the manufacturer, through the manufacturer as per the terms and conditions laid out by the manufacturer
Please note during peak periods installation bookings may take 2 to 3 weeks.
I don't know how to paste a table so you will have to sort out the following mangled mess.
What it shows is that for 2.5kW ACs the difference between supply + installed vs supply only varies between $360 and $605 so unless you know what the supply only price is you can't tell whether it's a good deal or not.
You certainly wouldn't want K1 because it is fixed speed that I suspect is designed for dongas up north where it's 50C every day and they are NEVER turned down.
K2 after the $200 gift card is the same price as K1. Of course it is a Teco so you probably don't want it but it seems that every donga has a Teco in it so they may be OK.

I usually buy through HN Commercial (I have a mate in the trade) so I will talk to them on Mon. I will also research AC installation costs and report back.
Thank my partner for this. She said you can't expect people to read that so I inserted a # between every column. If you copy and paste into Excel and use Text to Columns with # as the delimiter you can regenerate the spreadsheet.

This is exactly the question I came to the forum to ask.
I have just been through the Saturday West Australian and there are no ads that I can see for split AC systems, either supply only or supply with "free" installation.
I am looking for an AC for a small bedroom in our rental property. We have only ever rented to couples previously so they only needed AC in the master bedroom (plus lounge, dining and kitchen) but our new tenants have a baby so they want one installed for her bedroom.
There was an ad on Wed or Thu by Kambos for 1HP Teco for $999 inc installation.
Do you know of any other retailers that have specials on ACs either with or without installation, though my preference is to get the latter because you know what you're getting in terms of cost?
Do you have any information on the cost of getting the installation done either through the retailer or by a third party installer?
