I wonder whether 6.40% off from Cash Rewards will work?

    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/julius-marlow

Regardless I picked up these R.M. Williams looking bad boys for $103.00 delivered so I'm stoked!

Yes it will. Coupon is active on Cashrewards.

    • When and how do you get RM for that price?

      • This ! Where do you get them for that price.

  • Does anyone have experience with their returns process?

    • +3

I did a while ago and it was pretty seamless. Ordered a half size too small and needed to change. From memory, I kept the original packaging, they sent the RMA. Simply printed, stuck it on, dropped off at Auspost and got another pack back with the right size.
Just make sure they are in original condition - not walked through dirt/mud/scuffed. Which should be pretty easy if you just try them on inside.

      • Great, thanks!

  • Anyone had experience with this brand of shoe? Looking for some casual, waterproof shoes to wear to uni. Or even suggestions would be helpful.

    • +1

I only wear crystal sole JMs.
I seem to go through a normal pair of JMs in 3 months with hard wear (both leather and sole. 6 months for Crystal sole (sole only)
I had my firs pair resoled the other month and still going strong.

    • i dont know why others are saying their quality is poor. I had one slip on leather shoes (low cut) $129 around and I used them when I worked as a bartender. They lasted 4 years before the sole wore through.

      • I have also had a pair of JM that have lasted me for 3.5 years that i wear to work every day. Unless you are kicking walls or something they should be good enough.

Further 20% off what? What's the earlier sale?

    • +1

depends on the shoe, did you even check the link?

      • Actually I'm just complaining about the poor abuse of the English language by marketing and sales chumps to be honest.
"Take a further X off" implies something is already taken off, you're getting a deal on top of a deal.

        It's deceptive and stupid wording.

Just like people with a "$25 cap" plan on their phones, there's no such thing, a cap implies that's the maximum you would pay.

        • But… isn't that exactly what they're providing? There are sale items that have already been discounted (as shown in the link OP provided), and the EXTRA20 coupon code takes an additional 20% off the sale price.

        • -1

@kpm: It's the terminology, there's only one sale, it's varying prices within the event of the sale, some discounted more than others. The wording is just not right.

        • -1

@hamwhisperer: I'd dare say it's your understanding of the language that is the problem. There has been a sale on certain items, and now this codes takes an EXTRA 20% off. very straight forward

    Poor quality shoes

Not a bargain even with the discount code, will fall apart in a few months.

    • +2

I second this opinion. Bought one from last sale and I admit these are the lowest quality shoes I ever bought for 100$

    • Thanks for feedback.

  • +2

Also found terrible life to these shoes.
    5 x 2 x 10min walks to/from work, as I'm in an office job.. Dead in 3months.

  • +2

Man don't do it 6 months lifespan.. Spent a little extra

  • Absolutely spend more and get a better quality shoe (if you can afford it, go to RM. Worth every penny). JM are incredibly expensive for what they are and I certainly wouldn't buy them again (got maybe 2 months wear out of the boots I bought)

    • Just out of curiosity, RM = RM Williams, right? Always wondered if RM Williams was worth the price.

      • Yep RM Williams
Absolutely worth the price as they will last forever with resoles and proper care. Have a look at them in store and try them on (especially the comfort craftsman) incredibly comfortable and built to last.

  • Ditto re all the comments above me.

At least upgrade to Florshiem, if not RM for boots or other welted shoes for durability.

    • What's RM? EDIT: Nevermind. Googled "RM Boots"

  • Adding my bad experience to the pile.

Very light use, desk job with a bit of walking around, walking maybe a K per day to/from the bus stop on my commute. was alternating with a few other pairs of shoes. Then a few months later walking on wet ground I find that my foot is getting soaked, WTF. The sole had worn through already.

Look good, but do not buy this brand for day-to-day use.

  • +2

I was tempted… but then I read some reviews…. no thanks!

  • Bought a pair of Julius Marlow once and only once. I'm an office worker and usually get at least 2 years out of Florsheim and they are not even worn through at that point. The JM's however didn't even last a year before the soles wore out. According to JM this was considered "acceptable wear". Now wearing Aquila shoes - still going strong at around 3 years old.

I liked Florsheim but stopped buying them when they stopped selling them half price at end of year sales.

i own 3 pairs of JMs among a variety of brands ranging from Loakes, Grensons, Florsheims, Riverisland and Asos branded ones…

For $55 a pair after discount code applied, they're still a bargain, if you gauge it strictly on dollar to sole life ratio, they seem to be valued quite appropriately.

I usually don't gauge quality of shoes on how long their soles last anyway, just way too many variables like weight of the person, walking gait and terrain in which they traverse. I usually rate shoes based on the leather finish and how well they wear.

I tend to resole the good pairs that look even better after wear, the Loakes, Grensons, Imperial Florsheims are a given, however the 3 chelsea styled JMs I owned had leather uppers that wore quite nicely and didn't crack in the 2 years I've owned and worn them, albeit in rotation. I even resoled a pair and they're still going strong.

YMMV, the built quality was decent some 2 years ago, can't vouch for the ones they're selling now, but I'm buying 2 pairs anyway, @ $55 a pair including delivery, it's well worth the gamble.
