Just wondering if anyone know what kind of HDD replacement possible for Dell Latitude E6420.?? I want to replace my Dell E6420 HDD but not sure, what to replace with. My idea is to put SSD on this machine, but not sure if it supports???
any suggestions with any good deals will be much appreciated. thanks
Supports any 2.5" SSD's. I'd go for something like this 120GB drive and buy an optical —> HDD bay to place the old HDD in. That bay should also allow you to clone your current HDD to the SSD.
If you want more storage, this is a good option. I have that drive running in my E6520 (15" version of the 6420).
was thinking of 240GB drive so ordered one and hdd bay as well. let's hope all goes well now.
When it arrives, before cloning the old drive to the new, go into the BIOS (F12 on startup and enter setup) and change the SATA mode to AHCI if it isn't already to make full use of the SSD. I only just realised this recently and it gives a noticeable improvement in overall speeds as it should.
Sure will, do it all the time. Very easy to do if you know how to reinstall windows. Just a few screws, swap the drives, reinstall windows.
