Hi everyone
I am helping my parent to purchase a fridge through this program https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/262038
The fridge I am planning to buy is Hisense 593L Top Mount Refrigerator HR6TFF600SD
I find no review on this fridge, if anyone own one please share your experiences or if you ever own a Hisense fridge please let me know if it has been working great or if you experience problems.
Cheers
Is Hisense fridge any good?

Hi Neil thanks for the reply.
I think the fridge you are referring to is the smaller model 527L. Whereas the one I am planning to buy is 593L
Do you have any experience with this brand? ThanksAh sorry, similar model number. No idea. The 630 model is rated a 45/100 so seems there is a bit of variation between Hisense models.
I've had the French door model for 18 months and it's run like a dream. Really quiet, keeps perfect temperature and solidly built. The only issue I had was the doors developed a squeak after a few months but the Hisense customer service is fantastic, coming out the next day to re-grease the doors. The 3 year warranty is very appealing compared to other brands.
That's great to hear. I am glad you having positive experiences.
The good guys offering me 2 extra year on top of 3 year manufacture warranty for $158. Not sure if I should take the extra warranty.I've not had good experience with the extra warranty.
What they are likely to do under that warranty is if something goes wrong then decide they will refund your purchase price, which is half the value now and likely a quarter value of a fridge in 3-4 years . Not worth $158.
And don't believe any assurances you get from floor staff to the contrary.
There are owner feedback reports on www.productreview.com.au for Hisense fridges.
Thanks. They don't have any reviews for this particular model. It seems people have mix experience with Hisense fridge base on reviews of other models
We replaced our 35 y/o Sharp fridge a while back.. was still perfect but just wanted an upgrade.
Went all out and got a 710Lt Mitsubishi. Even though it is twice the size of the old one it uses about half the power.
Buy a Westinghouse or Electrolux, they are Aussie made. Whoops sorry… we stopped manufacturing those locally too.
I'd have to go against this and disagree with buying Australian. After inspecting and repairing hundreds of fridges in my experience Aussie built fridges are some of the most poorly designed and cheaply built of all.
It's about keeping jobs here.
If we continue to buy overseas, we won't have any industry left which will support our wages and lifestyle.
If you want to buy a crap product then by all means go for it. There's a reason Australian manufacturing is dying off, quality is garbage and prices are higher.
@SilentBob: Leave this place if its so bad then.
Is that all you have? No argument on why people should buy inferior more expensive local products?
Doesn't surprise me.
@SilentBob: My westinghouse is OK so far, been 3 years. The Samsung i had before died literally 1 month after warranty expired (before ACL changes). So far happy with the westinghouse.
That's cool in your one experience, but as someone that has repaired a shit tonne of fridges I can tell you the Aussie built ones are the bottom of the barrel.
@SilentBob: More than one but yes. I am interested to know what you recommend. In my experience with appliances often the model (the one i got of which had a lot of positive feedback) plays just as much if not more of a factor than the actual brand. I have no brand loyalty, couldn't care less where it's made (though how/who supports it can be important, Westinghouse had good reputable support at the time dont know about now) though i do have some brand avoidance. The prevalence of big supposedly reputable brands making more and more rubbish (quality/longevity wise) product lines seems to only be increasing. Samsung and LG are notorious for it as 2 more popular examples, which is not to say they do not have some gems in their product line too.
FWIW i have been keeping an eye on Hisense as a brand for a few years now and it's definitely on the up rapidly if their TV's are anything to go by.
Which manufacturer(s) would you recommend ?
Unfortunately they are not offered through the deal that I mentioned. Plus they will be at least double the price of the Hisense
Hi Bargainfinder, did you end up getting the HR6TFF600SD? I'm looking at this vs the hr6tff527sd a little unsure as to which to buy, the extra space is nice but not sure if its worth the extra.
Neil's pdf is too big for me to see on the small screen I'll have a look at it when I get onto my desktop.
cheers
No I didn't. there was not enough information I could find about the brand, and in particular this model. So I end up buy this https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-603l-side-by-side-ref…
For peace of mind. I paid 1200(1000 after cash back)
Rated 74/100 from last month's issue of Choice with only 1 fridge rating higher at that size.
They recommend fridges with a 75% score or better and 60% score in the temperature tests.
