I know I'm probably really late on this but the trailer got released just 2 days ago! It's great to see the trio back on screen after the infamous Jeremy Clarkson incident.
What are your thoughts on the new show before it's official release? Would it be better than Top Gear? :P

I have a strange way of looking at our 'heroes'… to me the greatest boxer of all time is Mike Tyson… however he's a rapist and wife beater… but does that make him any less a boxer? no.
One of my favourite singers is Michael Jackson. But he probably touched kids. But "Thriller" though.
So Clarkson is a sometimes racist, egomaniac and is the height of arrogance… but that doesnt detract from the fact he hosted the greatest car tv show of all time and will host its successor very soon.

Not necessarily. Simply because he was convicted/jailed doesn't mean he actually committed the crime. The problem with sexual assault claims is that there is an almost automatic assumption of guilt on the part of the male, and vexatious claims are very easy to get over the line in our overly PC legal systems. AFAIK Mike still maintains his innocence to date…
Any reasonable person would have to question the veracity of the case when Desiree Washington apparently filed a civil suit some 8 weeks before contacting police for criminal proceedings…it just smacks of a cash grab by a gold digger who had evidently done exactly the same thing to another guy a few years before with less success…the unfortunate difference for poor old Mike was the new "Rape Shield" laws they used to nail him.
@StewBalls: The woman he was convicted of raping (Desiree Washington) admitted back around 2010 that she made the whole thing up for money & Tyson publicly forgave her, saying that he deserved to do prison time for biting Evander's ear and the pathetic lows he stooped too while chasing drugs in the 90's anyway. Ironically he ended up becoming friends with her, and Evander and Mike are now best friends. One of Evander's sons is a jr golden gloves amateur boxing champ and Evander has Mike training him twice a week.

Staffers from Amazon Prime gave an interview about a month ago that they were going to be removing the geo-blocking world wide from their services by the time The Grand Tour started.
Not sure. They just said it was for "Amazon Prime", which is the name of their video/tv/movie streaming service.
@infinite: Amazon Prime is also the name of their paid site membership that gives you access to a music library, discounts on many items and free shipping within the USA. Unfortunately the membership is pretty useless for an Australian as the biggest value-add is the free overnight shipping.
I can't wait for top gear two (tgt aka the grand tour). They've got a much bigger budget then the bbc ever gave them this time around. Should be good!
Yes! It honestly looks really good from the trailer so couldn't be more excited to see this :) It's kind of sad to see the Top Gear brand slowly disappearing though, Chris Harris has some big shoes to fill..

May and Hammond do their part but if you've watched all of Clarkson's documentaries with only Clarkson they're singuarly great cuz Clarkson. The elephant in the room really was the elephant in the room.

Yep have to admit Clarkson was perhaps the only reason TG was this popular. What it has become now is a disaster and BBC must be biting their tongue for letting them go :P
I don't know, the other projects that Hammond and May work on are also entertaining. I don't think it would have been the same without all three of them. Before May came it was still funny, but didn't have the full range of personalities.
@macrocephalic: Yep without the trio there is no show :) And yea I think May has his own science show and I have no clue what else Hammond does for a living :P
@stuhtb: May actually does some pretty interesting stuff - check his show called Toy Stories where he does ridiculous things with toys like building full size houses with Lego lel.
May also does some just awful TV where it's not clear he's not trying to be intentionally boring. Like he just did a show where he puts simple objects like telephones together in the most boring way possible.
Don't know if you've seen May's other stuff but I reckon he is easily the best of the trio. Love that guy.
@stuhtb: Hammond also did science/engineering docos - and they were very enjoyable to watch, e.g. Engineering Connections, The Invisible World and others.
i liked the cinematography, storytelling and music selection also… wonder how much of that is coming with the old TG presenters.
I didnt like star in a reasonably priced car… hopefully nothing rubbish like that comes onto Grand Tour.

Ahh I can't wait. The trailer sums up exactly why it's my favourite show - great wit and banter between the three, amazing cars, beautiful scenery and wonderful filming!
I am telling myself that it is going to be crap…. that way if it's a disappointment, it won't be so bad.
And if it is as good/better than the originals… it will be a pleasant surprise.

In all seriousness, its shameful to think that with the internet being so ubiquitous, that these companies haven't upped their online distribution game. They whinge and whine about piracy, but fail to develop/provide a proper solution.
I just can't believe Amazon though. I mean this is sheer stupidity for shows they made, they own, they distribute. They make their own rules. They could easily make all their own shows available worldwide. There is noone to complain. But instead they do a half baked job, have stuff in some countries, and some stuff not on those countries. I mean some of their shows like Bosch and Transparent are available in Australia on iTunes, but not Man in the High Castle. So they cut their own throats with their stupidity. So when I hear Clarkson is moving to prime, I'm disappointed, annoyed, and worried that I'm not going to be able to legally get it. Is it going to be a show they will release on itunes or not? Just idiots.

Based on a quick google, approximately 162,000 convicts were sent to various penal colonies in Australia. However, most of these 'convicts' that were sent here, were those who committed petty crimes or were political prisoners, not those who committed serious crimes (those were punished with death).
So despite being labelled 'convicts' most were probably decent folk, living on hard times; so perhaps don't look too hard on the word convict being a negative, particularly for people of that era.

Amazon Prime are apparently removing their geo-blocking world wide by the time the show starts streaming next month. So you should be able to simply pay $80 US for the yearly service.

A few years ago I was involved in an episode of Top Gear (filmed overseas) and I asked the executive producer (an Aussie) what date he thought the episode would be aired. He told me to "download it from the internet like everyone else".
