Few Questions Regarding A DUI and Official Documents/International Visas etc

Hi Guys

About a year ago I blew .065 driving home about midday after a big night. I was granted a non conviction based on the circumstances, my past community work and no previous record etc.

My question is: do I still have to say yes on any official documents that ask if I've ever had a DUI before? For example, I was shopping around a little while ago for car insurance and learned that a lot of companies straight up won't insure me based on me saying that I had a DUI in the last 5 years.

It definitely shows up on my traffic record but as far as I know I guess I still shouldn't have any sort of criminal record?

If your aren't 100% honest and you need to make a claim and the insurance find out about your previous 'non conviction' they could refuse to pay stating you obtained insurance dishonestly. It sucks, it may not seem fair to you however it is what it is. Pay the higher insurance for a few years and move on. You may as well not take out any insurance, the result could be the same.

Insurers are very good at doing just enough due diligence to void claims when it suits them; leaving it up to you to prove otherwise; it's not worth the risk to be anything but transparent in these cases.
