60-65" 4K TV to Be Used Primarily as a PC Monitor for Gaming and Watching Movies

Any recommendations for a 4K TV (60-65") with a displayport input and low input lag (under 19ms with the lower the lag the better). Was planning on hooking it up to a PC and it would mainly be used as a PC monitor, for gaming and to watch movies. Features like 3D and being a smart TV are not necessary for my requirements.

  • Presumably TVs that are good for console gaming are good for PC gaming.

    • I am not so sure. Most consoles only have low FPS around 50FPS and don't use Displayport. My PC supports 100FPS at 4K. Which is the reason why I was thinking I wanted a Displayport input as it supports 100FPS at 4K whereas HDMI 2 only support around 50FPS at 4K

      • What kind of rig can run 100fps at 4K? Did it come with your Bugatti Veyron or did Santa Claus drop it off?

Gigabyte GTX 1080 XG overclocked/watercooled on an intel 6850K overclocked/watercooled. am not running max settings on most games so high FPS should be possible at 4K

        • @Ceiana: 100FPS at 4K? Maybe with playing Nokia Snakes.

  • in the latest aldi catalogue lists the Bauhn 65" Ultra HD LED TV $799.00 @ ALDI 17th september tv will be a special buy again starting saturday 15th oct .

was at my local aldi this morning and they had 9 in stock.

    is this TV suitable?

    • I wish :) Happy to be proven wrong, but I still haven't seen a cheap screen which has low input lag, a fast refresh rate (100+) and a Displayport input.

      • I had a cheapo TCL screen years back… not the sharpest display out there but input lag was quite good, despite its 60Hz rating.
Cheap TVs are usually bad, but some are good surprises.

Some expensive TVs are horrible at this, and they cost a fortune. Its why I see some people using Computer monitors with TV boxes (while I also see some people using TV's as PC monitors).
As I've said repeated times, my brother's $3,000 (?) Samsung TV … has horrible input lag (Doom suffers), horrible UI, and very laggy browsing and it makes me age quicker at every use.

      • Have a look through the thread and whirlpool page on the latest model Aldi 65" (ATVS65-916).

It has fantastic input lag and can display UHD RGB or 444 pixel for pixel from any of the 4 HDMI 2.0 inputs. The picture quality is fantastic also.

The problem is that some of them have clouding or banding, most of which can be 'fixed' by going into the hidden service menu and tweaking the blacklight and black levels.

I have one myself and can vouch for how incredible it is, especially for gaming. The other Aldi 65" have smart TV functions which made for some horrible input lag and frustrating smart tv experience. They got rid of the smart tv functions, motion interpolation and more for their latest 65" and in this case - less really is more.

It's $799 and has a 60 day money back guarantee. Pick one up and try it for free (well transportation costs of a 65" may be a factor).

    • Mate works at the authorised repairer for the Aldi tv's (for warranty claims) they had 120 units in VIC alone come in faulty since they went on sale last time #justsaying you get what you pay for.
