I'm looking to watch some movies, do some web work (research, Google Docs, code) and listen to some music. Will it hold up? eBay Link
Also what is the build quality like?
I haven't used Dell before.
Those latitudes have solid build quality, but are extremely old and crusty, battery will definitely need replacing as they are probably not so generous to give you a fresh one.
the inspiron 3000 @ $343 dollars is fine.
Not exactly the fastest performer on the block — it's really a netbook processor shoved inside a gigantic 15.6 inch body, but it will do simple spreadsheets, play h264 / h265 in 1080p and browse lighter websites fine.
just disable Flash plugin.
For programming you'd really want a 1080p display — having the extra screen estate is very handy as it means you can view multiple windows at once. Though, you can get around it by just hooking up a monitor and working at a desk.
I'd probably go for this refurbished unit instead
or this one with a slightly smaller screen
