Just Realised Some Protein Powder I Bought on Clearance from Woolworths in August Has a Best before Date of May

I know it's my fault for not checking but is it ok for Woolworths to do this? I only realised because for the past 2 weeks I've been having stomach pains on and after workout days (I drink some right after a work out) and it started to smell off a few days ago. I don't have a receipt so there's nothing I can do anyway but how can they be selling items 3 months past their recommended use date?

Also, could anyone recommend any cheap protein powder for me? I searched a bit through and it seems Bulk Nutrients is the best, is it?

  • maybe go back to woolies and see if the stuff on the shelves is old as well…..then take yours back claiming ignorance

or just take it back and tell them your story, stranger things have happened

  • Obviously they aren't doing it intentionally, often the cause is lazy staff not rotating stock. When I worked for woolies every now and again someone would find stuff (including chilled prepacked fish) that was several months out of date.

And can confirm bulk nutrients is some good stuff.

Foods can be legally sold after a 'best before' date as long as they are not damaged, deteriorated or perished.

Usually stuff in the 'clearance' section (Woolies, Coles, Priceline etc etc) are usually close to (or past) expiry/best before date.
