Where do I get my Eneloop now?

Now that Dick has left the building, where do I quench my thirst for Eneloop?

Comments

  • Costco? Amazon has some good deals occasionally, just create an alert.

    • I was at Costco Moorabbin this morning.

      They have:
      8x AA $24.99
      8x AAA $24.99

      Charger + 12 batteries (i think AA) $39.99

I have not used Eneloop myself but knew there was a fanbase on OZBargain that might appreciate the info.

you can try https://ru.nkon.nl - still cheap after postage and they have the japanese version.

few past deals and comments: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/ru.nkon.nl

  • What about Groupon (https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/battery-deals)? Sixteen batteries - 8x AA and 8x AAA, for $44.

  • I remember reading on a thread somewhere that Ikea rechargeable batteries are basically dupes of eneloops?

    • A thread where? Here at OZB?

    • I think you are referring to these comments: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3959331/redir

They were talking about Amazon Basics batteries possibly being Eneloops, but in a post about Ikea batteries.

Yes that post. That person you quoted was talking about Amazon, but other people were taking about IKEA batteries possibly being rebranded eneloops.

Also as suggested by a user about 2 comments below

With Dick gone and Masters going, I think selling eneloop could be invoke the retail curse.

If you don't mind the battery cover, I would suggest you to buy some IKEA LADDA battery (re-branded eneloop pro).

It is said that the battery is made at the same factory in Japan - I believe it's way better than Chinese Panasonic eneloops.

Alternatively, you can try Amazon basics but you need to pay postage and it takes some time to arrive.

You can google those batteries for details :-)

  • Thailand 7/11.

  • Anyone look at the aldi ones. Claimed to be low discharge

  • They don't mention anything about LSD on Ikea website so I'm a bit reluctant. Maybe Costco then.

    • It's there, but not easy to find. On the Ikea website, if you click on the "product information" tab, under "key features" you'll find the phrase "The battery is ready to use". This is a different way to say LSD, in marketing-speak. "Low self-discharge" suggests "not as bad as normal batteries, but still not perfect", i.e. it will be read by an uneducated person as a negative. "Ready to use" has no negative connotations.

Be aware that the Ikea batteries come in four capacities: they have AA in 2450mAh and 1600mAh, and AAA batteries in 900mAh and 500mAh. Don't buy the wrong ones by mistake. The lower-capacity ones are a little cheaper.

    • For some reason after reading the comment about LSD all I could thing of is lucy in the sky with diamonds

P.S found this and thought it might interest the eneloop fans out there

Can also buy the hobbyking Turnigy LSD batteries.

    • Are they any good? 2550mah? Seems too impressive when the eneloops are only 1900mah?

Also, you can only get shipping from one of those freight re-routers?
