Nexus 6P from Kogan manufactured 1 yr ago - battery OK?

Hello,

I jumped on the dick smith 20% off eBay deal and scored a nexus 6p 128 gigabyte white handset. Should have rung alarm bells. No one bought the white version and no one paid extra for 128 gbs storage. The phone was manufactured in early October 2015. It's been on the shelf for a year. The battery is making me nervous. It's charging really, really slow.it's updating all its apps and stuff but hasn't gone up much in 20 mins. Only 2% fro 38% to 40% Do you think the battery is broken from sitting for a year? Will it recalibrate and be all good?

Update: Says "Charging Rapidly - 3 hours until charged" Does not sound rapid at all. Ahhh this really sucks.

at what rate is your phone charging at?

    • +1

It was a "parasitic" charge happening from the huge amount apps it was downloading as it was mirroring my previous Motorola nexus 6 setup. I've put on aeroplane mode. It's charging at a reasonable speed now. Says 45 mins to go from 40% to to full. I looked at the battery university site. According to their data, 1 year at a 40% charge at the average temperatures in their Hong Kong (30 Celsius) warehouse means it's probably lost about 10% of its total original capacity at date of manufacture. I'm a bit peeved but Kogan is such a hassle I'll just deal with it for the 2 years or so I'll use it for. If it's giving me problems a year from now, I'll crack it open when the warranty expires and replace the battery with a decent 3rd party one if there still around.

      • Yep, those quick charge numbers are based on the phone being turned off. So don't expect whatever percentage they claim if you have your phone turned on.

        • I don't think it differentiates that much. Certainly not as bad as the fuel consumption you get on a Volkswagen diesel car, in comparison to the official figures.
