Escape Rooms Sydney

Hi guys just wondering if anyone could recommend any escape room's around sydney. I've heard good things about break the code and with the student mid sem break promotion, i am about to go there tomorrow to check it out! Has anyone been to other escape rooms and can highly recommend them?

I've only been to one escape room so I don't really know if the one I went to was good or bad…

I went to the one at Macquarie Centre. It was pretty fun. The group I went with was split into multiple rooms. Everyone said the rooms were fun. Only one group escaped the room though.

    • did all of your groups split up to complete the same (themed) room? I'm trying to find a place where i can race another group of friends

      • Nah, we were split into different themed rooms.

I did Lost at break the code and did not like it. The initial room was staged well but there was not enough variety in puzzles and very poor materials e.g. a laminated clue that had wrinkles and was very hard to read. The person on the end of the walkie talkie did not seem to know the room. It is the only room our group has failed so perhaps I am bitter.

My favourites in Sydney are parapark and Mission Sydney. Both are just great start to finish.

CT adventure is also not bad. The clues are written by someone whose first language is not english and sometimes that really makes it hard to figure out what part is a clue and what is just a mistranslation. But the rooms are fun, lots of physical puzzles. The forest one is getting redone as a horror theme soon according to the guy at the desk. It is amazing in scope.

Enjoyed the puzzles at one way out in Camperdown but we finished in 30 minutes. Felt short. Either we were on fire that day or it needs a few more.

    • haha well that lost room is their hardest and only has a 3% escape rate so i wouldn't be sad if i were you. You seem quite experienced with escape rooms, have you been to outlast escape room, ashfield? there is a groupon deal https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/outlast-escape-room and i'm quite interested in it as i love horror movies. What are your thoughts on this deal/room?

      • It's a good price certainly and I like the idea of the last options two rooms two in two hours. I haven't been to ashfield before though - I might now you've pointed this out!

Break the Code on George st is pretty good. I enjoyed CT as well.
Camperdown body shop was interesting too, but the guy lost his walkie talkie and gave us his number. Unfortunately our mate went to toilet and he was the only one who had the number. So, we couldn't get clues :(

    • yeah i just did the da vinci room at break the code! quite an interesting experience although i did expect it to be harder (watched the da vinci code to prepare for it haha)

      • I haven't done Da Vinci code yet! I did Indiana Jones and Avatar. Didn't break the code in the time limit but ;( though the guys were nice enough to let us finish it with their guidance.

  • Labyrinth at Parramatta was superb. (We did their Insane Asylum room.)

Reviews on this blog are pretty good and accurate for the few I've been to, I've found: http://escaperoomsydney.blogspot.com.au/

  • We've been to CT Adventures a few times now and always found their puzzles logical and rewarding. Groupon also has a deal on https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/adventure-escape-game-pty-l…

Make sure you combine it with a 15% or 20% groupon coupon.

  • Just got back from CT 20 minutes ago…
Did "Gotcha" room with wife and my two sons.
Loads of fun… They gave us a few bonus clues and some extra time. :)
It was our first time doing it.

Apparently "Mu-t" is an easier room to solve.

    I recommend CT.

  • We did this one for work. IT WAS SO HARD I ALMOST DIED

Saying that, I hate puzzles. And work people. I think this is for the people who likes this sorta thing….

I did their robbery in the cottage one two years ago and it was just ok. Lots of math and padlocks, not much in the way of more physical puzzles. the whiteboard marker ran out and you really needed it to do all the math.

I did murder in the pub more recently, and it was better, less math and padlocks (although one puzzle kept falling off the wall) but still fell a bit flat.

For me the solve a real crime from the 1800s theme clashes a bit with the escape room puzzles. You're too in a hurry to learn. Futuristic, spy or supernatural themes work better to put you in the zone for why you would be doing puzzles to achieve a goal. I don't want to knock it too much as it is nice for someone to have tried something different. But I would not recommend it to anyone as their first escape room definitely. there are more fun ones. Their lounge is really nice, much better than most places where the foyer is the size of a broom closet. I can see why it would be good for work functions. I also probably would not want to go with work people lol.

      • Omg. I got stuck doing murder in the pub. Uggghhhhhhh it was sooooo complicated.

Did I say I hate crosswords? Puzzles? Sudoku?

The lounge is nice. Wish I spent all my time just there sleeping. I was soooo tired after a long work day and my brain being asked to work.

  • I've completed the majority of escape rooms in Sydney & there are some truly fantastic, creative & fun expeiences to be had.

I've found the best Escape Rooms in Sydney to be:

Labyrinth, Mission Sydney, Para Park, Paniq & Enigma Rooms. All of these offer first class experiences & distinctly different. For newbies, I would recommend Para Park (9a) & Mission Sydney (Vampire Castle).

Personally I’m not a fan of Break the Code. It has lots of potential but is a poorly run outfit & they make a lot of important & basic mistakes. Their best room is The Da Vinci code, which I thought was OK but in comparison to say Labyrinth? They’re not even in the same league.
