  • Are these like woodworms?

    • Yes, same umbrellas. Woodworm have unfortunately ceased trading in Aus

      • How come?

        • Things got too expensive

  • +1

    oo.com.au regularly had 3 woodworm umbrellas onsale for ~$21.95 including postage so once you add postage your deal is significantly more expensive :-(.

    Do the umbrellas have 'Manic Sales' logo on them or are they plain?

    • Yes, they have Manic Sales printed on them.

      I completely understand that the deal is significantly more expensive than what oo used to have on the woodworms (one of the contributing factors for them not to be around anymore).

      I am hoping that in the future I will get the prices down. Still, $12.31 per umbrella isn't too bad.

        it cant cost more than $1 to make Umbrella's in bulk in china.
        so it has Manic Sales on the top of it, do we get paid to advertise?

        • Hi Tuzii,

          Manic Sales is my company and I am bringing in and paid for the container. It'd be a nice profit if they cost $1! Unfortunately that is not the case, you can most certainly find factories that would produce single umbrellas for 1USD or there abouts but when ordering individually boxed 3 packs it does add up.

        • @Theyiend:
          how many Umbrella's fit in a container?

        • @tuzii: 1500 of these three packs

        • +2

          @Theyiend:
          $37,425 worth of Umbrella's, you're really counting on the rain.

          @tuzii: haha, yes could really do with a very wet summer! (sorry everyone).

    Add $2000 to ship 1 20 foot container and your cost per unit keeps going up.
    Importing is expensive and risky for small operators

    • +1

      And storage! yes I guess it is a risk but a starting point.

    Would have bought if not for the logo.. Why would anybody want 'manic sales' on their umbrella?

    • +1

      I was trying to write the same thing but was wondering how best to say it without being shot down. I would also have bought this if it wasn't for the name/logo. I really hope OP sells his container load but I think this part of his marketing strategy may slow things down a bit.

      • Yeah I guess it has to potential to put people off but a way to try and get some extra exposure for my business. Like everything with business it is a risk. Thanks for the feedback though I do appreciate it.

        • in that case, you should give it for free as the umbrella comes with the logo of your company (make it part as your marketing) or sell it cheaper than woodworms umbrella

        • +1

          @andyken: In an ideal world and money wasn't an issue I would love to but at this stage I could not move on price. I do not command the buying power that woodworm did with the factories so unfortunately if this error on my part for putting the company name on the umbrellas slows sales down then I will have to put it down to a tough lesson learned for next time.

          @Theyiend:

          I need some umbrellas so I am going to buy some anyway to support you. That was an excellent answer above and I am happy to help an OzBer trying to promote a small business. Still not keen on the name but I will suck it up as I walk around in public :)

        • @cheapskatez: Thanks for the support and the advice.

  • Not as cheap as they have been in the past ….but still great umbrellas for a good price.

    Would prefer it had no branding…never liked the woodworm branding either.
