980

Thanks to HUKD & SlickDeals :)

2) Create US PSN account if you haven't already
3) Play it on your Aus PSN account :)

Few more details of how to use US PSN account (UK based article)

Winner of over 200 game of the year awards, The Last of Us has been remastered for the PlayStation®4. Now featuring higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, in addition to several other gameplay improvements.

Abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. A population decimated by a modern plague. Survivors are killing each other for food, weapons whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US.

The Last of Us: Remastered includes the Abandoned Territories Map Pack, Reclaimed Territories Map Pack, and the critically acclaimed The Last of Us: Left Behind Single Player campaign which combines themes of survival, loyalty, and love with tense, survival-action gameplay.

Brilliant game, have played through it 3 times

  • Cheers for the deal, I would suggest to take a look at the Canadian PSN store since they have the same deals with a slight variation price but the exchange rate is 1 AUD = almost an 1 CAD.

You forgot one important step which is to set US account as primary PS4

    • +2

had a look, in this case its $14.99 CAD = $14.85 AUD

  • Can anyone suggest the best way to get US PSN code or prepaid card…

I used to buy online gift card but with extra charge. But it instant …

I am guessing the reason for the promo is:
"In the lore of The Last of Us, September 26 represents the day the Cordyceps virus reached critical mass. A grim day for the inhabitants of that world, perhaps, but for Naughty Dog and The Last of Us community, it’s Outbreak Day—an annual fan celebration"

One of my top 5 games of all time. The script, atmosphere and gameplay are just beautiful.

    • +3

Top 2 for me. Still haunts me.

      • +2

        Still haunts me.

        Truly?

        • +2

Well, when I think of it. Get a kick from listening to the soundtrack, too.

      • whats number 1?

        • FFVII. Most of my gaming was in my youth.

        • @RichRichardo: Interesting. That game is one of my favorites too, but I can't put a number on it.

It was clearly the best JRPG I've ever played, but now it's a very tight contest for the top spot between FFVII and Persona 4 Golden. If you haven't played that, maybe you'll like it too.

What both of these games did for me was give me an experience I've never had before and didn't know that I wanted. In FFVII's case it was my first JRPG. I'd played RPGs before but not any like this, and was blown away by this new experience. Eventually I got jaded with the genre for stagnating. P4G was the JRPG I didn't know I wanted. I'd played JRPGs before, but not one like this… so it's the same story as FFVII.

At this point I was quite cynical about JRPGs, and that game renewed my interest in the genre. They're both tied for #1 JRPG for me.

        • @lostn: I've never heard of this game before, or even the series. Looks interesting. And I still have my PS4, maybe I can dig up a copy somewhere.

As I said, I mostly gamed in the past. The new FFs look so alien to me. I'm interested (and slightly worried) at how the FFVII remake will pan out.

          Thanks for the recommendation!

I played this game on my ps3 and it was amazing but not sure if I should get this PS4 version though

    • It comes with the "Left Behind DLC" and has improved visuals. Game is identical otherwise.

  • +1

I finished it on PS3 - one of my favourite games.

Wish it was on Xbox one, would buy it in a flash.

  • +4

0.03 cheaper US PSN $10 card at PCGameSupply

Also, no need to create an Amazon USA account.

    • +1

      Thanks ;-)

  • When does this expire? I am at work so hope this deal is still going when I get home

    • +1

      Sunday. According to this:

Alongside the poster, we’ve worked with PlayStation to coordinate a global Outbreak Day sale at PlayStation Store. The sale will run for the next week and includes significant discounts on The Last of Us Remastered, Left Behind standalone DLC, select multiplayer add-ons, and the Outbreak Day PS4 theme.

  • I believe this is getting a PS4 Pro 4K patch as well so good for non owners to jump in.

  • +1

This is one of the few "must have" games for the PS4. Beautiful visual, great story line, 1080p 60 FPS. Only downside is the multiplayer player numbers are quite low but given the sale, you could see more players these days.

    • +1

I don't have a ps4 - but I'd like to know the other 'few' must have games

      • +4

        Bloodborne

      • +2

If you are just asking about Sony exclusive, the usual list will be The Last of Us, Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted 4 as a start.

        • Uncharted 4 is an amazing game!

        • @sam91:

I still dream about finding treasures and gold at night when I sleep !

  • Awesome price for it!

Bought it a 2 years ago paid $30 for it. Unfortunately, have only played 3-4 hours of it as it's probably not suitable to the rest of the family audience. I should have just waited until now, seeing as I still haven't progressed anyway. Sigh.

    • +2

I feel that way about my ps4

      • Nah, the PS4 has gotten an amazing amount of use. It's just the more family suitable parts of my library that have gotten the most play time.

  • dont forget to check out online either.

one of the best online multiplayer games I have played… really encourages team work.
gets overlooked most of the time because of the amazing single player

  • Can't you buy this without a gift card?

    • From memory you can't use a non US credit/bank card on PSN which is why you need to go the Amazon route.

      • You can if it's AMEX.

  • got my grounded+ trophy and left it at that. such a bloody good game.

  • HELP!… cant seem to create Playstation account in USA… default to Australia(greyout)

  • Amazing deal. My favourite game of all time.

  • I am Wary buying games that come down to about $10 from PSN as the last time I did that it was free next month on PS+

    • Least if you buy it now it won't be linked to your PS+ account and get deactivated if you ever cancel your PS+ sub

      • That is True. However say I did cancel my sub in like 2 years and I really wanted to play it I could probably find it in a Bargain bin or just re-activate playstation for a month

        • -1

But you just need PSN (free) not PSN+ and it always stays there.

  • I got the game 2 years ago. Played for like 4 hours and forgot about it. Might finish it now.

  • +1

Fantastic game. To those that have only played it for a few hours I urge you to press on. I found the first bit of the game pretty draining where you're just dodging the military and was wondering what all the hype was about but once you get past that you're in for an amazing experience.

    • I hope this game isn't overhyped. I've been disappointed with the Uncharted series and Journey…

    • There's an early difficulty spike when you meet your first clicker in a slanted building.

Now that is one baptism of fire.

      • This is exactly where I stopped playing on the PS3.

        • That's a shame.

It took me many tries and a few hours but eventually I got it. There's about 5 enemies. Three of them can be taken stealthily (first 2 no probs, third one requires patience).

That leaves the clicker and one more. This is the hard part. Dealing with two of them. Pretty much can't stealth kill unless you have a shiv, which I don't think I had.

  • 2) Create US PSN account if you haven't already

I dont know if they recently changed it…but you cant create US address, the country is locked to Australia and cant be change to US.

    • +1

      PS..finally working… using US proxy

  • i think il wait for the remastered "remastered verison on the pro"

    • +1

It will be the same game but patched for the Pro.

  • Thanks for the tip about the PSN gift card! Was trying to buy it with my CC (with US address) and couldnt get it to work.

    • Use AMEX. It works. That's what I'm using.

  • +1

The Last of Us is now $22.95 from the Aus PS store which is still a pretty decent price!

    • -2

Only double the US price… not bad!

  • Incredible game, one of the best storylines in any game ever made.

  • +1

I think I'd rather pay the extra $9.84 and get it from AU PSN, rather than bother with a US PSN account, a US Amazon account and a US shipping address, and risk of losing the game for breaking Sony's terms of service.

This game is up to $80 in shops.

    • +1

Came to the same conclusion as well, it's a lot of hoops to save $10.

      • It's not a lot of hoops really.

If you already have an AMEX card, you can bypass all the Amazon stuff and just buy it straight off PSN. PSN accepts Australian AMEX cards.

        • Don't have an Amex. So yeah… hoops.

        • @Josh81: You should probably get one.. or two. There's a lot of great statement credits offers that will save you a lot of money, especially on things that rarely go on special.

Also, they are available with no annual fee and come with other great benefits such as smartphone screen repair, extended warranty and purchase protection.

They're popular among this community. And they let you buy things from US PSN without prepaid cards or amazon.

        • @lostn: Ok, didn't realise they had no annual fee.
I bought my PS4 last Xmas using my brothers Amex, and got $50 cashback from Harvey Norman.

Anyway, I bought the game ($23 from AU PSN) and it's very good.
It's similar to Uncharted 4 (also naughtydog) and The Division.

        • @Josh81:

          Get this one: https://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/essential-credit-…

Good perks. No annual fee. Get a few supplementary cards with it. When there's cashback offers, sign up to them on all 3.

I bought the $999 128GB iPad Pro at HN that comes with a $100 HN gift card. Got $150 cashback credits by splitting the transaction into 3 and effectively paid $750 for it.

And then you can make purchases on US PSN without any hoops.

Some of the included perks with Essential AMEX card:

          • Smartphone Screen Insurance for screen repairs if you accidentally break your Smartphone screen. We will reimburse you for the cost of the screen repair up to $500 with a 10% excess per claim

          • Money saving offers from top brands which can be saved straight to your Card with our exclusive Amex Offers program

          • Purchase Protection - if an item is stolen or breaks within 90 days of purchase, it can be repaired or refunded up to $2,500 per claim, up to $10,000 per year and with a $50 excess per claim4

          • Buyer’s Advantage – extends the manufacturer’s warranty by up to 12 months for up to $7,000 per claim and $7,000 per year, with no excess4

          • Refund Protection - if you have a change of heart and are refused a refund on an unused item within 90 days of purchase, you will be reimbursed for up to $500 per claim and $2,000 per year, with no excess
