Word of warning: beware of the Ultra Fit. I have a 128GB model and it overheats and disconnects from the computer, rendering it practically useless . Transferring big files in one hit often cuts out mid way so now I use it for storing photos and such.
So a simple video under 10gb is no go?
That's why I got mine and in the end it's such a pain to pause transfers to let it cool down. It burns to the touch!
CSI: We got a partial thumb print from that crime scene…
Detective: OK, who's our perp…
CSI: SanDisk!
thanks, was waiting for some reviews before id commit
Have experienced the same thing with the 32GB edition. Will overheat and disconnect. Especially when connected to my usb hub. A bit more stable when connected to my comp (I suspect the case dissipates heat better).
Wouldn't buy another. I guess that's why they're going cheap :)
What about as a boot disk? Or is it too risky?
It seems every week there's a sale on these Sandisks and every comment is how they overheat.
I guess that's why they're always on sale.
I like how a store has to add Genuine to the product description or people will assume the stuff they're selling is not genuine.
Can we stop these being posted?
If traders can be banned for untrustworthy behaviour then why can't we ban a product that has an inherent issue?
Well, product issues used to be a valid reason for a neg vote, not sure if that is still the case…
Unfortunately, at the risk of being down-voted, I think people don't neg vote the deal anymore. Fair recommendation though.
Despite all the complaints, I like these. However, I only ever use them on USB2 so they're super fast but not enough to overheat, I guess.
Mine doesn't get too hot in the car audio system, it only warms up heaps when in the PC…
Yeah, I suspect it is throughput related and that USB2 (and indeed the car audio system) just doesn't produce enough throughput to be an issue.
When I upgrade my machine, I think I'll have to use mine through a USB2 hub.
I have a 64gb. It gets hot for sure, but has never disconnected. The problem is not the heat, but losing it as they're damn small. These are great if you're a person who often moves your lappy (like me) or has a messy desk, as these aren't easy bumped causing errors.
