New Acer Laptop Knocking out The Wireless Router Issue

I recently bought an Acer Aspire V3-372 laptop from Warehouse 1. We have had an Archer D7 wireless router running with very little issues for 12 months previously. Whether its a big coincidence or not, but since we got the Acer laptop, the wireless router keeps getting knocked out so that none of my devices can pick up a connection. Firstly it disconnects from the 5ghz network, and the after a short while it knocks out the 2.4 one. if i turn the router off and on again, I keep going with the same problem after a period of time.
I have tried rolling back the internet adapter driver on the laptop and adding a new version from the Acer website. I have spent a couple of hours onto Archer trying to see if its the router, and have changed its firmware to the latest but the problem keeps persisting.
Any ideas before I speak to Warehouse 1 and see what they can do?

  • Have you tried not using the new laptop for an extended period of time to see if router still drops out?

    • I only seems to drop out when the Acer is on and connected. Left it off for a couple of days, and had no issues.

      • Fair enough. You can try getting an alternative wifi for laptop, try using older firmware for router by going to 2nd latest, if still problem, third latest, etc. It is not ideal but may solve issue for you. Could also do same with laptop wifi device! If none of this works you may have little choice but to say get a USB wif dongle. Have you tried using laptop on different wireless networks, and does it have similar issues?

        • I've only updated the router firmware since we got the laptop - it wasn't working well on either version. I've lso rolled forward and back the wifi drivers as well, but without seeingly having much luck. That being said, it has been on all day trying to upgrade windows 10, and so far hasn't broken down, so we'll see what happens.

  • How long after turning on the Acer does WiFi drop out? Never heard of something like this happening but doesn't mean it's not.

    • Unfortunately, it seems to be very random - last week it went for about 3 days without any issues, yesterday it needed re-setting 3 or 4 times. There some mention of this kind of issue on the internet, but no specific fix.

  • It seems that the chipset is an Atheros/Qualcomm. Not the best in my opinion.

  • Was initially thinking it could be noise from USB 3.0 connected devices that knocked the connection (has happened to me in the past), but that should only affect the 2.4GHz network…
