Save your money and get the elite or a lower model, the remote is too small and impossible to use in the dark.

We have the Harmony Touch control and the Smart Hub one and prefer this basic remote to the Touch.

I've had both remotes and prefer this one without the LCD screen. The battery lasts longer and the LCD screen was never that useful.

I don't use it in the dark though, so that's a good point for people who do.

Yeah same. I find the TV emits enough light for what we need. Given we only use it to navigate the Xbox or Apple TV, we only find ourselves using the directional keys, ok, back and menu buttons which means we can basically go off feel anyway.

If I watched FTA (or maybe Pay TV), which I don't, I think the display would add more value since you can populate a channels listings with shortcut icons.

This works with a phone but again I found the app slower than just using this remote, but it is a good way to set it all up initially or make config changes.

I've used the one with the screen and personally prefer the basic remote. If I want a backlight, I just reach for the Harmony app on my phone (though it is a bit slow to start)

Personally I prefer hard buttons. I know where they all are so don't need or want a bright backlight. Until you're used to it, better differentiation of button shapes would help.

Overall, I never want to have to look down at the remote, so touch screens don't work well for me.

I should say, I've had six other Logitech remotes over about ten years. This is easily the best.

You can use your phone as a remote. This is a great device.

    • App takes too long to launch though

I have this and would seriously be lost without it!
You can even configure windows shortcuts and programme un used buttons to open apps for you, like plex, then fully control it and your stereo at the same time.
As I said, lost without it.

  • I got one of these from the US, after reading reviews on button placement on other models and how it lead to accidental device switching. It was DOA and not worth the trouble of the return.

I then bought one from JB Very happy with the it and with fewer buttons I can use it by feel so the lack of a backlight is not an issue.

  • Computer Alliance in Brisbane has them (at least the description & photo looks the same, but I am happy to be corrected) for AU$129 (the cheapest on StaticIce is $127) - I think I would rather pay the $11 extra to have a locally sourced item.

    • Plus delivery cost, $29 for me.

  • This is a superb remote. All the "brains" are in the separate hub, which also sends all the IR and bluetooth signals, so you can use the remote or your phone or your tablet. The remote's battery lasts forever. The hub can be hidden in the cabinet with doors closed. For me, it's very close to the perfect remote. The only missing feature I'd like is voice/touch control like on the Apple Remote, but that's an Apple-proprietary thing so can't blame Logitech.

Cons: no backlight, no LCD screen, no touch pad, no voice control.

    • All going well, the Amazon Dot will support it soon for voice control!

Great remote. No back light is not an issue. Most people will get used to button positions very quickly. I owned 5 logitech remotes. This is my favorite.

    • Definitely agree.

If you have more than 1 remote in your lounge, consolidate them all into this and you will never be able to live without it again. Good remote.
