QBE Box Insurance

iSelect has suggested me with QBE Box insurance, where in we need to setup a box near steering which records our driving and the next year premium is decided based on the rating scored.

Has anyone here opted for this or any reviews/experiences/pro's or con's will be helful

beyond ridiculous. guarantee they'll claim you regularly 'accelerate too fast' and refuse to honour claims on the basis that you're a 'dangerous driver'.

Yeah I'd be really wary of it. I don't see this as a device to save you money, I see it as a device to help them not pay out if you need it.

    • yeah seems dodgy to me.
any idea how can this be compared to woolworths car insurance ?

  • It's apparently the same box they use in the UK, my friend's niece (yeah everyone has the friend of a friend story) has one in her car as she's a uni student, helps keep the premiums down on her car as she's a safe driver and gets rewarded for it

    • iSelect consultant has just advised me that it's mentioned in the PDS that the box can only be used for driver rating which in turn is used for premium calculation and the box recordings cannot be used for claim decisions.

      • Except for the part where it says on the QBE website: "It won’t be used against you when you claim unless it provides evidence of fraud."

So it will be looked at for at least one specified reason if you claim. Slippery slope………
