Where to get reliable 2GB USB memory sticks?

I recently bought a second-hand embroidery machine that can only read 2gb sticks. They're not so easy to get in stores, and while they seem to still be fairly readily available on ebay, I have no idea of the quality and reliability. Can anyone make any recommendations please?

  • You might be able to read it by creating a 2GB partition on a larger stick

    • Thank you. Hubby suggested that but I had my doubts it would work. I guess it bears looking into.

Also, format it with fat, or if that doesn't work then try fat32

        • Thanks. :)

  • Go for something like this

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251557163021

Doubt you will gave many issues :)

The issue is that the memory allocation format changes between the sub-2Gb and over (at least for SD vs SDHC cards) so the older devices can't read bigger.
I recently bought some 2Gb micro SD cards for a similar application. You could perhaps use these in an adapter if you can't get smaller?
If you get really stuck, PM me. I found a 512mb and a 128mb USB the other day.
Otherwise, search ebay for 2Gb and choose a brand name in a retail blister pack and you will likely get good quality.

    • I have an adaptor (the type that you slide the sd card into to read pics via a usbb slot?) and I know we have some tiny sd cards somewhere. Will try it out. Many thanks. :)

You can buy new 2Gb USB sticks from Janome dealers (Part Number USBKEY). They may need to order them in.
There are also keys available in the shape of thread spools and sewing machines, which a shop may have a supply of.

As the USB is only really used to transfer the pattern from your computer to your sewing machine, an eBay one would do the job.

    • Thank you.:)

I did buy one of those ($16 gulp) but if it dies or I misplace it I'd like to have a plan B in place.

You can get them from these guys and have your logo on them.

    • Thanks.

With a MOQ of 50 at least I'd never need to buy them again. lol
