A Good Quality Hiking Pack That's Made to Last - Recommendations?

Hi all,

I enjoy the outdoors and often drive into campsites and pitch a tent then move on. I'd like to do more 1-2 night hikes where ill carry everything i need with me and also have the possibility of using the pack for overseas travel.

I was thinking of taking advantage of the ebay 15% off code but im not sure which pack to go for as id like something that will last me a lifetime (or at least the next decade)

Any thoughts would be kindly appreciated!

Reviews for this look good to me

    Hey NachoPie

I recently did Mt Kilimanjaro, Macchu Picchu and Camino De Santiago all with the Lowe Alpine Airzone 35 (got it for about £70 in London) and now I take it everywhere with me travelling.

The bag you've chosen looks good except I can't seem to see the gap for your back that allows more breath ability. This is a huge factor for me as my body overheats quite easily, but may not be as big an issue for you.

I'd say if you can, maybe go into a Kathmandu or Anaconda store first and try it out first to see if you like it. I've made the mistake of purchasing a bag online before with great specs but didn't end up suiting my body type.

Hope that helps a bit :)

I have only had bad experiences with Kathmandu items but that's just me.

My favourite of my packs is the Deuter ACT Lite 40+10. I have taken it on many local camping/hiking trips and also to Nepal for a 4 week trek. Its also great as I have been able to take it as carry on when traveling.

I have a few Osprey packs too, they are really great quality as well!

I had a Berhaus (uk) pack for 15+ years. Nepal, India (3 times), Europe 5, half of Oz. had to get some stitching done in India but a bloody great bag.
No idea of sizes models Etc now but as I say 15. + years of hard slog.
When it was getting old I got a Lowe but was not impressed, not sure of model but they had just moved from manufacturing in Ireland to China I think, so maybe teething problems w quality!

      Berghaus FTW

  • For only 1/2 night hikes, I would recommend you the Osprey Atmos 65L
