Vodafone Is Funny

So I purchase a $25 sim card from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263087 on 30th of August, and have yet to received the card (or according to them, still with australian post in NSW whereas Im located in ACT).

During this time, I firstly contact them on 12th of September and they promised me to refund the amount I paid for it once they resolve it with australian post in 72hours, and that I won't have to contact them again as the money will be refunded to my credit card automatically. I also got an reference number for this incidence. Of course that didn't happen.

Then I ring them again today, another lady answer the phone, after the lengthy checking, she told me IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO GET A REFUND AS IT'S A PREPAID SIM, and basically it's my problem with australian post now since they know it's been dispatched. I now have only two options:

  1. To go to my post office and ask for the sim…. (wouldn't they just deliver it to me if they have it? plus the tracking shows the sim is still in NSW…)
  2. Go and pay $2 for a prepaid sim and they will transfer the credit of the card I paid for to this new sim.

I laughed and ended the call and ring my bank to dispute this transaction. I don't mean to be a whinger, but I was very unimpressed with the way vodafone deals with its customer hence the vent.

Tell me what you think.

I recently ordered a $25 SIM online from Vodafone too.

I was lucky it was even delivered.

When I ordered it, it was supposed to be addressed to:

    [Name]
    [Business Name]
    Level X. Y Street
    [Surburb]

Instead, the package was addressed to :
Vodafone Customer [or something very much like it - no real name]
    Level X, Y Street
    [Suburb]

Luckily, it made its way to me.

Is something like this likely to have caused your SIM to have gone missing?

    • I may never have a chance to know this unfortunately.

      • I got that too! I went to the post office twice and they couldn't find my package because it was addressed to "Vodafone Online Customer" (or something like that). My name was nowhere to be seen.

The third time I went back, they found it by matching the tracking number instead.

  • Go to TIO/Consumer Affairs in your state and explain how Vodafone is attempting to defraud you.

As this is something that Australia's largest businesses engage in all the time they'll be glad to assist you.

    • Thanks for your comment. I was considering doing this, but then I thought it was too much of an effort than simply dispute it with my bank as it was paid with credit card.

  • Australia Post is a joke.

I think they are deliberately slowing down our letters and parcels to make people pay for "Everyday Delivery".

I'm surprised it didn't go through a Courier.

The refunds can also take quite a long time to process. Up to 30 days. (Personal experience with a stupid hotel I won't name in Sydney)

Also: The lady who told you there is no refund is talking crap.

    • my Auspost express delivery took a week recently! What a joke.

  • Vodafone is incompetent here. I bought that deal. The label on my e-Parcel reads

    Online Store Prepaid Account
    [My address]

No name. You'd think it would be a no-brainer to transfer the customer name from the order to the sticker. Lucky I was in when the Auspost courier called or I would have had a hard time collecting it at the post office with no matching name. There is a consignment ID on the sticker which you should be able to obtain from the tracking record, have you tried asking them to check that at the PO? Or match to your home address?

And what's with using a huge e-Parcel for something that could have gone in an envelope? What a waste.
