  • are you sure this is $49 outright? even if locked to voda, top deal. But id reckon its not $49 to buy…

  • im off 2moz, to see if i can score it…keep u potsted…

  • I can't really see.. where you could actually buy it, like a checkout place for that price or anything. :S

  • yes, defo cannot buy online, im goin to a voda store to try my luck?

  • +1

If this outright I am buying one tomorrow.

  • cant find the mobile anywhere on the website to buy it. i reckon its just a glitch in their system.

  • +2

sounds more like a typo on the rrp? is there a link to actually buy this (prepaid/cap?) rather than just trying to compare the phone?

  • Clicking on the n78 takes you to a listing of phones

Clicking in the e71 takes you to the e71 page.

I think it is just an error

    • Or a clearance item.

  • yes i think error is probably the case, see what happens 2mo

  • typo

  • Typo + most Vodafone stores don't stock this phone anymore.

  • +1

yeah, it's not online. only in-store. got the beauty.

  • +1

more features than the e71 yet somehow $300 cheaper.
    Definitely Typo.
I hope for poor voda's sake people don't go all ACCC on their asses

  • im off to a voda store 2moz then, 2 cheap yeh, goodnight all.

  • -2

obvious error in RRP in specs. No evidence it is actually for sale at that price.

    • -4

I got it at Vodafone George Street today.

      • Whoa, did you have to ask for it or was it on a table or something?

      • is it unlocked?

    • +1

Read before neg. The guy above bought one from in-store for $49…proof enough?

      • OK, revoked. Note that he only said it in English in reply to my post.

  • Hey microsonanticirrus

    Any chance of a receipt?
Great deal if it is true.

    Cheers

ended up giving the phone as one of the presents for my friend's party. everyone chipped in so i dont have it with me

      • +1

Why so many negatives for this comment? Just because he may be lying? =S

  • +1

Yea, pics or it didn't happen.

    edit: aw damn.

  • Looks like this $49 prepaid N78 deal was in February. Listed at end of this thread on Whirlpool.
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/916…

    • nicely found

      i guess no typo, $50 + $75'ish to unlock hmm i dunno…

reading heaps of reviews, hahah it's funny how they saying this is an iPhone alternative….i don't even know where to start….

      • Mixed bag of pros and cons in reviews of this phone. Mind you the pros were in comparison with other phones from two years ago…

  • Lol the vodafone website's down now, so.. I wonder if they're removing this or something.. it really makes me wonder if I should be checking this out tomorrow, or if it's just a massive fluke.

  • According to Vodafone, to unlock in the first 6 months will cost $75/$100 depending:
    http://vodafone.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2743/se…
So basically, maybe up to $150 for this phone if you can get one.

  • Anyone know if this would work with a sim from a telco that resells mobile services via Vodafone network?

  • if the reseller is vodafone network, it will still work

  • It seems Vodafone is either scrabbing the deal or just an actual site maintennaince:
    http://store.vodafone.com.au/

  • site back up.
    price still the same

  • but where do you see the actual phone, apart from the link provided earlier? i can't find it just from navigating from the front page… help?

  • +1

yes clearance stock from ages ago.
they had the lg renoir and this n78 for $49 but they ran out of stock very quickly.
didn't know they still stocked it in stores though.
my advice would be just call up your local place and check before you visit.

  • just rang vodafone penrith. the lady said she had never heard of the model and never had any in stock

  • have now rung around all the stores close-ish to home and none had any in stock. i rang the George Street CBD store and they also said they had none in stock

  • NO DEAL!! just went into the George st. vodaphone store and lady said havent had this model in ages!!

    • agree. i went into george st, qvb, pitt st. All say they havent had it for ages.

not a bargain unless someone can actually find it.

    • so what do you think about this?

he's full of …., can't even prove it

      • maybe he bought the very last stock available in the whole of Australia….

      • +2

I am intended to disbelieve. Lady at george st told me they did not have any yesterday either.

  • Maybe its time to update title since no longer available

  • called about 10 different stored around melbourne and no one seem to have the phone. one guys told me they sold the phone like a year ago. so i think this deal is very old!

  • i called mt gravatt store and they said none of the vodafone stores had any !

  • not existent deal

  • -1

Called some stores in WA, none of them have it.

  • Yeah, this deal doesnt exist if no stores I've called ever had it for over a long time.
The sales told me to be honest, they havent had stock of it for a year.

  • no deal.

  • +1

this is non existent deal. In victoria they never had this model for ages.A lot to answer!!!!!!!!!! wasting our members valuable time and energy. He bought this model yesterday, which according to vodafone sold out months ago????????????? Must be David copperfield of Sydney

  • I too called a few Adelaide stores today and was advised this phone has not been sold within the Vodafone stores chain for awhile.

Funny to note that the OP has logged on within the last few hours but have made no attempt to clarify.

  • Called 4 Brisbane Stores - nobody got stock
They cannot even recall the model

  • +1

I've been calling around here and most of what I've heard is no. Not even a "Hold on, I'll go check", but a blatant no. LOL.

None at Parramatta, or Carlingford, or Burwood (at least she said "Oh we've sold out"), or Top Ryde (shouldn't have bothered, it's a new shopping centre), or Castle Hill, or Winston Hills (the guy actually went to go check the stock), or Bankstown (she had a look too), or Liverpool, or Penrith Kiosk (he said someone else called earlier asking about it HAHA), or Mount Druitt (he said someone came to the store earlier as well), or regular Penrith, or Blacktown, or Rouse Hill, or Roselands (she had a look too), or Macquarie Centre, or Hornsby, or St Ives, or QVB, or Pitt Street (he looked too), or World Square, or Randwick (he looked as well), or Broadway , or Hurstville, or Newtown (she looked too), or Neutral Bay (he looked too), or Bondi Junction, or Bondi Beach, or Chatswood (both stores), or even the Airport! I also called George Street for fun. :p

The Menai store just sold out! >.<
It looks like if anyone has any chance of getting one, they’d have to try a store that wouldn’t have as much traffic or sales, or rather somewhere distant and remote.

So I pretty much called all the stores I would at maximum be willing to travel to get one, so yeah.

Considering the fact that the majority of the stores I called didn't even bother to go look, there is a slim possibility that there would be one tucked around in some dusty corner in some shop. This was more for.. me calling around so Voda don't think there happens to be a massive new customer base for the N78, haha.

HOWEVER, I didn't call the Vodafone dealers, as in those other phone shops that sell their stock, but aren't branded as Vodafone. I'm not sure whether they'd still do the same price, but it's more likely that they would have stock due to their low turnover.

SO IN SUMMARY: THE DEAL DID EXIST, BUT IT'S A MATTER OF FINDING WHERE THE PHONES ARE. Good luck.

  • I made the following comment in the OP's other thread about the samsung phones but now I can't find that thread anywhere…

I tried to compare those phones as well as the samsung phones in the OPs other thread and I couldn't find the N78 or the other samsung phone in order to make the comparison. In other words, if you go to the front page of the website and try to navigate your way to the same page that the OP has posted up then I'm betting that you can't do it. MAybe I'm too dumb to do it but if anyone else can then i'd love to know how.
