Sponsoring Sibling to Australia Procedure

Hi All,just needed some advice/help in relation to sponsoring my sister to the ozland. She is married, has a 5 year daughter and my brother in-law work in IT. They are currently India.
I wanted to know if any one you has any experience or knows any one who has done it recently.I have been on the immigration website, however, its all confusing and nothing is clear. Not much help even on the phone as they keep referring me to the website.

Things that i wanted to know is what is usually the waiting time and are they any special criteria involved eg. limit on age/no of family members etc.

Any sort of guidance/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in anticipation

  • What sub class are you looking at?

  • This site would probably be more useful, but from this comment it doesn't look like you can just outright sponsor siblings for PR anymore http://www.expatforum.com/expats/australia-expat-forum-expat…

I'm unsure if PR can come from this http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/489-

  • Arrange an appointment with a migration agent to talk it over. Quite often, the first consult is free.

    • I have tried them once, but they always too busy out there and moment i started asking questions and the officer started getting agitated and refered me to the website, as my questions were just general queries. I had a bad experience last time so I never tried again, could be the person was having a bad day. let's see, I might try again.

Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about the officers at immi office. Yeah, I am actually going to see one this week. Just wanted to gather as much info as possible, mosto ifthe agents have the tendency to show things much more complicated as they usually are.
      Do you have any recommendations?

      • If youre in sydney i can refer you to one. a few of my family members applied via her agents and all successful so far

        • Unfortunately not, I am in Melbourne. Thanks though

  • Try a different agent; and you might have to pay for consultation fee, but it is worth it if you get a good agent.
