If you google around, there's ways to get a normal 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and simply plug your guitar straight into your PC and have the game work. Takes a bit of fiddling around with settings (need to disable any other audio inputs on the PC and install a patch).
Otherwise gumtree for a used PS3/Xbox360 one (toss the game, keep the cable), usually cheaper to buy that bundle than the cable outright for $40 new. Or hope it's on a seller in the next ebay 20% sale.
Is the cable for PS3/Xbox360 the same as the PC one?
Is there a lot of lag when playing the guitar and hearing the sounds out of the speakers with this cable/game?
No, I don't notice any lag at all. Just like you are playing out of an amp

I purchased this game in December last year with the real tone cable bundle during the Dungeon Crawl administration.
9 Months later and I got rid of my starter guitar and bought an american stratocaster.
SO BEWARE it'll make you enjoy guitar ALOT.
