Hyundai Elantra

Hi
We would like to purchase a new Hyundai Elantra (auto).
Can we manage to get the active model for 18,500 drive away?
If not what has the been the lowest they go for.

    @MKr

I would be surprised if you could achieve $18.5k for a brand new Elantra Active Auto.
Based on the current market, I would suggest 20k is a more realistic target figure.

Worth noting Hyundai has a 5 year model life.
Hyundai have officially announced the next gen i30 due next year.
Elentra received a significant face lift over the last couple of years, however given Elantra and i30 share so many common parts I would be surprised if a new Elantra was also not released in 2017.

  • Might as well wait for the current i30 batch to get cleared out then?

    • Yes and no.
The newer model will offer more current tech, safety, fuel economy etc however the downside is Hyundai are less likely to discount new shape i30 as heavily as they do now for the first 12 months or so.

If size is your priority then have a look at the Hyundai Accent. We bought a 2016 RB4 hatch and they look almost as large as the Elantra/i30. Judging by the prices on Carsales I'm confident you could buy a new Hyundai Accent 1.4L CVT automatic for $16,000. The biggest downside is that the Accent is a much slower car.

      Not a bad suggestion.
Its worth noting however there is a significant quality difference between the Elantra/i30 platform and the Accent range.
I would suggest you are getting much more car for your extra $4000 with the Elantra/i30.

      • My bro in law has an i30. I've had an Accent as a hire car a couple of months back. I much prefer the i30 if it was my own money. I found the Accent awful to drive.

  • @OP what did you end up doing? am looking too

  • Got the Lancer ES sport. 19500 drive away. Love it its a great car.

    • Much better than an Accent! :D

Yes the mitsubishi drives really well. Hyundais are great too…. but for 3500 more the Lancer is a better car.
