My parents were trying to line up with family going to Hawaii around January and by playing with the dates, this offer came up!

$800 return per person, include 2 checked-in baggage (2 x 32kg), per person! It's a direct flight, no stops and with Hawaiian Airlines.

It's available on Bestjet.com (Australian site), which was fed through by the sky scanner app! Play around with the dates and see if you can grab a bargain, too!

Just checked, price still available!

This guy updates the current lava flow regularly

  • Would the baggage allowance flow on to domestic flights? Most would want to go to big island or Maui, at the least, and u recall their domestic allowance is the standard 20kg pp.

If you book in one go, it does carry over @32kg per bag. Else, as you say domestic in 20kg per bag.

Also, don't forget Kaua'i if you've not been there before.

I just got back from Kauai and Oahu. I have to say, Kauai was absolutely breath taking. Napali coast is ridiculously beautiful (no wonder so many movies been shot there). I would highly recommend it to anyone if they are after a quieter type holiday. Also open door helicopter of the canyon and napali coast was amazing.

        • Did you do the Zodiac Tour of the Napali Coast. How's those Sea Caves :)

        • Not Zodiac but we did go on small 6 person catamaran's that were small and nimble enough to go in the sea saves! We thought that was good… 2 days later we did the open door helicopter which just took it to another level!

There's always baggage lockers, just a short trip away from the airport, worse comes to worst ;)

      • actually I looked into this about 3 months back… the baggage locker folks would come & collect (& drop off) the baggage from the kerb at HNL airport….so you could leave stuff behind while you went to other islands… I forget the costs but seem to recall they were reasonable, i.e. not very cheap or very expensive.

Is Air Hawaii a decent carrier?

Hawaiian Airlines? I have no complaints.

  • For those frequent flyers, Hawaiian Airlines are a Virgin partner, don't forget to claim your points and status credits!

  • This is for late January. Jetstar does have sales for HNL for travel in mid January. They had one a few months back and it was only $460 return: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245341
