Can I port out my Telstra number when it is on Recharge Only period? The recharge credit was expired last month and I tried to port it out to Coles (Optus) but it was failed (online). Thanks.

I can't receive call because the SIM was activated as Tablet/Broadband
If you have never used the number why do you care about keeping it then?
Just try to minimise the number of pre-paid numbers as I often only do starter pack when they are on sale.
I have more than 30 number as I use the start pack as data on the go.
@LoveBargain15: And no one knocked on your door yet? :p …
@peuwayaqdq:
may be you will show up?No one call me.
I think many ozbargainer have been doing this for so long.
@LoveBargain15: Yeah I suspect that many people doing it. And logically once the credit expired, not much we can do with the SIM card anyway.
But then I am actually wondering why the question about "How many active pre-paid accounts you have" that usually we have to answer when buying and/or activating pre-paid SIM online.
@peuwayaqdq: I've got 12 SIMs mate, had over 100 when the $5 Telstra $30 starter kit deal was on. It's not illegal to have more than 5 SIMs. It's the telcos responsibility to enforce the Extra ID requirements for when you have 5+ prepaid services (actually I think it's the person that sells it to you responsibility to ask whether you have 5+ services, but I've never been asked)
Make sure your name and date of birth are identical in both Telstra and cole account, otherwise the porting will fail.
I don't seem to be able to check the DOB on my Telstra account to clarify. I am pretty sure I provided the correct DOB but I have heard people say that DOB sometimes changed in their system.
Did you register the Telstra account under a different name and DOB?
I know this is possible and also affects whether you can access Telstra Air.
I had a number ported over from my cousin but changed it in the T-Portal. I couldn't port it out without the old details.
Otherwise, it's likely just a bug, you will probably need to call the Coles Mobile support line to do the port manually.
I actually activated the SIM after I have an account with Telstra and activating it while I was logged in.
If your service is still active but you have no credit, yes. Can you receive a call on that SIM?
